Lerato

Lerato was the Chief Huntress of Sun Pride for many years. Even Queen Nosizwe respected her commands when the pride was hunting, even though the Queen is technically Hunt Leader when she accompanies a party. Toward the end, the aging lioness grew blind in one eye, but her physical prowess remained formidable - until the end. Her hopes of bearing one last litter before her twilight time arrives were not to be realized, but she had the company of her grown daughters to soothe her in her last days, a thing which brought her much comfort. She was proud and dutiful, always a fount of knowledge and practical wisdom for her pridesisters, and she is still deeply missed by those who remember her. Even King Amadu'o is known to have a soft spot in his cruel heart for the memory of the great Lerato. Older lionesses still refer to her as an example when training new young hunters.
