Busara

Dafina was the very first lion to join Mkodi's pride, and always enjoyed an especially close relationship with the king. Though he never chose a queen, Dafina was in many ways considered to be his. She was his closest friend and advisor.

When she had twin cubs Busara and Tobwe, many assumed Tobwe would be his heir. Mkodi and Dafina both saw that Tobwe was too reckless and foolish to trust with ruling, so the young male was given the chance to prove himself by starting his own pride. They hoped he might learn enough to one day take over and combine the two prides but this was not to be.

Busara had inherited all of Dafina's wisdom and leadership, so Mkodi was glad of her decision to remain with the pride. Perhaps because she is the late Dafina's daughter, Mkodi dotes on her.

Strange though it may seem with their age difference, Mkodi and Busara eventually mated (though she is still not considered officially queen) and she gave birth to his first offspring, Mahaba and Upendo.

Most of the lionesses in the pride are wary of Korofi as heir, and Busara is no exception. She is especially fearful for the safety of her cubs, as they could certainly be seen as rivals. She keeps her fears to herself, not wanting to stir up any trouble, but keeps a careful eye on the future king at all times.
