You know how when you read history sometimes, it seems all boring and old and nothing about their lives possibly could be interesting because they are just a bunch of boring old dead guys? Sometimes, it turns out that they actually were interesting. Take America's founding fathers for example. Until I got into Hamilton, I thought they were the most boring people ever. They created the states, a country that is not even my country, and that's all there is to it. Then I discovered Hamilton, and I realized they were far more interesting than I ever could have imagined.
This is not true for Tabby. He is a good king, sure. He is benevolent, and cares deeply for his lionesses and cubs. He looks out for his territory and all those who lived in it, and he never kills anything if he can help it. But let's face it. If he were not the lion to create this pride, he would be forgotten in time. Sure, he will always be honoured and remembered, he is a good king after all, but if he were not the very first, the one to pull everyone together and start what I'm sure will be a grand lineage, he would slip through the cracks of history. If there was a musical written about his life, no one would see it, unless they are like me and would be happy watching the happy, fluffy moments of his life play out with little to no conflict or interesting events at any point. Someday, he will fade into the past, and a new king will arise and take this pride to higher and greater places. Tabby is just the one to start it all, slowly.
