A lion birthed from cryptic origins, Tabansi hails far from these lands where he makes claims upon having been raised by Striped Hyena. He treats them like kin, much like he does with their cousins, seemingly holding a place that which all hyena either respect or fear. Each paw step forward hails what many swear are the distant chuckles of hyena awaiting his command. His appearance to the Savannah bares no witness' either, thus his claims can only be taken as truth. A graveled voice rumbles of a life no lion can understand... yet enraptures them all the same because it is a life they have not lived.
Krou, while having the best intentions, is a misguided male that has grown to live by different rules than other lions. The hyena are his brethren, the striped being closer than any other hyena cousins, despite being well aware that his true kin are lions. It is a delicate relationship, one that he often keeps in check with an iron paw. He is easy to forgive & forget, however, which can be damning when faced with cunning personalities, still he would sooner lay his life down than give up seeing this relationship between lions & hyena thrive.

Origins of his birth are muddled, drowned in ludicrous rumors & glorified tales, but few question any of it after witnessing his steadfast gaze, grizzly scars, & menacing authority. Still... his unquestionable tellings are not entirely fabricated.
As much as his past may seem shrouded in mystery, Klou is quite & nearly so an open book. The parents he desperately veils to be unknown were vagabonds who failed to create a pride. Their one & only litter included Klou, whom at the time was named Tabansi, & a young female cub. She hardly lived very long, snatched away days old by the talons of an eagle, leaving the male as the sole survivor. His mother mourned the loss, roaring in agony that the father was to blame, then wallowing in self pity, crying that she should've never left them alone. It hardly took much longer before the father decided he'd had enough & abandoned them. She quickly grew overwhelmed raising Tabansi alone & as the sun rose early one morning, she too made her decision in order to survive. She quietly left him with premise of returning with food like she always did, & he waited, just like he always did. But as the sun set & rose again, she was still gone, yet he waited, tentative to cry out to her. Yet the sun set once more & rose, leaving him weak & forlorn. She was gone.
For some time he wandered aimlessly, listlessly trying to catch any morsel he saw, though his clumsy paws betrayed his needs. Time flowed unto itself, feeling much like a blur in the moments he laid down, readying to depart this land when the stench of cackling beasts surrounded him. What possessed these creatures to go against their nature, not even Tabansi could say, but time flew ever faster as he woke briefly & slept the rest away. Perhaps it had been the oddly identical looking markings to the Striped Hyena that saved him life or perhaps there was something more to it that he was unaware of, but in the end, before the male cub knew it he'd been integrated into the hyena clan & raised as if he were one of them. The life he was placed into was hardly an easy one, as anyone might suspect. Lions & hyena were never meant to lie in the same beds, yet the Queen had plucked this cub & revived it without a second thought.
The males never seized to question the queen & when that failed to suffice them they openly challenged him on a daily basis. Perhaps most stunning of all was the Queen turned a blind eye to these challenges, even when Tabansi began taking the lives of those who relentlessly attempted to overwhelm him. It came to a point where even the name he was given upon his "rebirth" into this clan held more meaning than one could've imagined. His memory, even back then was akin to a foggy moor, never knowing how much time were to pass & never seeing but a tails length in any direction.
