Good Natured

Prince Savageslate is the only son of King Rithhirim and the mighty High Huntress Savagegold, one of the most powerful lionesses to ever grace the pride.

When he turn one year and seven months, being the rambunctious young lion that he was, he decided to leave the pride and wander. Rithhirim warned him against it - he was still young and unprepared, with little understanding of the cruel world outside the safety of the pride. But Savageslate thought himself invincible, and did not heed the older lion's warning.

While he was on his travels, he came across a group lions mistreating a young cub. He had the option the help the young one, but was afraid - Rithhirim had been right, the world was a cruel one.

The next night he dreamt about the cub. It called for help, up until the other lions murdered it.

Deeply unsettled, Savageslate returned to where he had seen the cub the next morning. He found the young thing dead. Overtaken by grief that he had done nothing, he gave the cub a proper burial, and mourned it through the next night. At midnight, the spirit of the young cub visited him, touched by the care he had given her after death. She offered him guidance, so that he may never turn a blind eye to cruelty again, if he would cover his normal eyes and trust her fully.

Savageslate decided to trust the cub, and now keeps his eyes eternally covered, so that he may take guidance from the spirit and never walk past cruelty again.
