The History of Crystal Waters Pride and Queen Ebony
When Ebony was born, her mother immediately saw a sparkle in her eyes. It was something that she could not quite understand, but she knew it meant great things were to come for this cub. Ebony, her mother, and her siblings had no pride to call their own. They were nomads, wandering around, staying out of trouble, away from predators, and away from prides that may kill a wandering lioness and her cubs. Because of this, Ebony and her sisters were strong. Once she had finally been weaned from her mothers milk, her mother made a decision. She could not keep cubs out wandering. It was much too dangerous. Her mother started a pride, Crystal Waters.
Now that Crystal Waters was a pride, Ebony's mother took on the title of queen, Queen Mbali. Her and her sisters were granted the titles of Princess, which made them feel important, and proud to have such a role in a pride. One day, a rogue lioness stumbled upon their territory, and her name was Ethwasa. She was covered in scars, and she said she was a healer that had been chased from her pride because of her scars. Queen Mbali gladly accepted the lioness into their pride. She decided that this pride would be a sanctuary for lionesses that did not want ties with their old prides, lionesses like her that had been chased away from their prides.
Eventually the pride grew a bit, and with it, Ebony did too. She was an adventurous young lion, and often snuck away from the pride to do what she pleased. There was even a point where she ran off to find the father that her mother had never spoken of. She stumbled upon him by accident, and was surprised to learn he was her father. When she told her mother about the incident, her mother sighed, and explained what had happened between the two of them. This intrigued Ebony greatly, as her mother still seemed to hold love for King Anahi.
As Ebony aged into an adult, her mother knew it was time. She had watched her daughter grow up, and her, along with Ebony's sisters, agreed that Ebony should take over the pride. On the third year of her life, Ebony was named queen of Crystal Waters pride, by retirement of her mother. Her mother became Elder Queen Mbali, and her sisters kept the title of princess. She is learning how to rule a pride, and doing it well. She herself is also having cubs, to keep the bloodline going, and hopefully produce an heir.
Stories of Queen Ebony
The Father Crisis - Adolescent
Princess Ebony was thinking one day when some thing crossed her mind. She had never really known who her father was and had never thought about it until now. Hesitantly, she padded up to her mother, who was basking in the sun, and asked. “Mother.. I know this is sudden, but… who’s my father?” Mbali froze and looked at her daughter. “Why must you know?” Startled, Princess Ebony shook her fur. “No reason, I was just... thinking about something.”
the next day
The young female stretched her legs, it was bright in the morning and almost no lions were awake, so she slipped out of the pride and ventured out into the Savannah. She didn’t realize how far she’d gone until her paws touched something soft. She looked down to see sand.. she had walked right into the desert. Ebony looked behind. Her pride didn't seem too far off, as she could see it in the distance, but she never noticed how close it was to the dunes. She stayed determined and walked until she came across rocks. Many of them. A handsome young king was talking to a primal lioness, and they both stopped. They turned to the adolescent and the male approached her. “What do you think you’re doing here?” He was smaller than most kings, almost as small as her. Kind of strange, in her eyes. She simply replied, “I’m looking for my father."
He smiled at the young lioness, and his eyes glinted with recognition. “Well, you found him.” Her eyes widened as he continued. “My name is Anahi... I remember you. You look the same as when you were born, only, you've grown so big. I helped your mother name you.” He said, and his eyes seemed to fill with longing, or sorrow. Did he miss her mother? "If you are my father then... Where have you been for my entire life?" She said softly. Anahi sighed. "It's... complicated." he murmured. But she realized she didn't care, and she padded forward, burying her face into his mane. "I've always wanted to have a father, but I know you must be busy with your own pride. I'm just glad I found you. I've missed you," She said, hesitating, "father." He closed his eyes "I've missed you too, Ebony."
