"Son of the Earth, bringer of storms, champion of the sea. Okeanus"
A powerful, rough voice rang out. A lion of abnormally large stature brought his head down to meet a cub, no more than a hour old. Cronus, as he was called, was an abnormally large lion with a striking orange coat. A feared championship fighter, every cub of his might as well have been a child of the gods. And yet, Cronus furrowed his brow with disapproval at the sight of the helpless cub. The cub was small, struggling more than even a newborn cub should. And worse yet, his coat was orange, yet bared much more resemblance to his mother than his father. The cub's mother, Tethys, was nothing more than a wandering traveller. Skilled and knowledgeable, but without attachment. She had only agreed to bear Cronus' child out of a promise of glory. Produce a worthwile prodigee, live a life of luxury. Tethys could tell from the look in the champion's eyes that she would not be granted that life.
"Chase them out", Cronus said without an ounce of emotion in his voice. Tethys scurried to the outskirts of the pride, barely holding onto her cub. Back in the savannah, Tethys knew their chances of survival were low. She looked the pitiful cub in the eyes. "Okeanus...", she whispered, almost scared to say the name out loud.
Against all odds, the two managed to survive. Tethys' impressive survival and medicinal skills had managed to stave off death. And as much as she hated to admit it, Cronus may have been right about Okeanus. As he grew, it became more and more obvious that he was lacking in certain areas. He was small, clumsy, and to put it nicely, quite dumb. But he was pretty and incredibly charismatic. He had a certain affinity for befriending every lion he met. One day, still a young adolescent, Okeanus encountered a lioness with a presence unlike any other. Her name was Peitho. She was quick-witted and self-assured, yet incredibly kind and comforting. Practically begging for her attention, Okeanus managed to entice her to give some of her time to explaning herself. She led her own pride, tucked away in a waterfall within a deep jungle. Safe from the outside world, her pride was a safe-haven for lionesses everywhere. Instead of being used and discarded for kings' desires, these lionesses were free to pick up trades and crafts. Peitho's pride contained skilled herbalists, artists, and shamans.
Okeanus practically wagged his tail in excitement: "I would like to join!" Peitho gave a slight giggle in response. Once she realized that he was serious, she paused to give it some thought. Peitho's whole deal was living a life without men, and yet there was something different about this one. There was no sense of malicious intent in his eyes. No spark of destruction. She agreed to the request, and Okeanus responded by giving her an awkward hug. Tethys was slightly relieved to hear that her son was embarking on his own adventure. She had started to believe he may have stayed with her forever.
With Peitho, Okeanus dedicated himself to herbalism, just like his mother. Naturally, he was not very good at it. However, his endless enthusiasm earned him the adoration of the rest of the pride. He grew not into a fearless fighter or skilled tradesman, but instead as the most oddly endearing lion you'd ever meet. One day, Peitho returned with a tired, hollow look in her eyes. He may have lacked regular intelligence, but Okeanus did possess emotional intelligence. He questioned what was wrong. Peitho stared back at him. "It was.. so bright". Upon further questioning she clarified. "It called itself a 'hexaplex'. What has our world come to". Apparently, Peitho had met a lion on patrol that drained her so much, she suddenly realized what a toll the past years had taken on her. Leaving to take a "vacation", Peitho rudamentaly left Okeanus in charge. Not in the sense that Okeanus had any kind of power, but rather in the sense that he was really good at sitting pretty. To this day, Okeanus serves as the "trophy himbo" of the pride

- FUN FACTS -
or better known as things i’m too lazy to write into lore
➸ All lions in Okeanus' lore came from the same Greek titan/god family (Peitho, Cronus, Tethys)
➸ In myth, Okeanus is the god of freshwater. Okeanus maintains strong ties to water sources, with his territory being nestled at the bottom of a waterfall
➸ Okeanus is incredibly slender and light for a lion his age, with his mane never fully coming in. He is, however, incredibly fluffy, causing many lions to be confused on both his age and gender. He is not offended by this, but does get quite upset at being called bald
➸ Ever since joining Peitho, Okeanus rarely sees any members of his biological family. He is, however, in touch with his sister Coolranch who he discovered later in life. Coolranch is extremely intelligent, so clearly genetics are not entirely to blame for the way Okeanus is
➸ Okeanus has a particular affinity for lovebirds. He can frequently be found gathering seeds and fur to leave for them
