Dec 17, 2018- Brackenstar jogged in front of his father along with his cubmates. It was his first day out of the den, and all to him was amazing! The other cubs surrounded him, chatting all at once. One girl, Wrack was her name, piped up rather loudly," You know that you'll look different than us when you're bigger?"
Brackenstar nodded," Well, yeah! I'm a boy. I'll have a mane like my father!" He stated this rather proudly. The other Cubs giggled, looking at Wrack as if she were stupid. Brackenstar smirked then gasped as they made it to the training grounds. They all slid down the bank, giggling erupting from the mass.
His father made his way down and called them all to him. Brackenstar watched as cub after cub were paired off and did their best to shove and push each other out if the big ring in the sand. "Brackenstar and Houl!" Timberstar called out. The two entered the ring. They were both around the same age, so it was an even fight. Houl charged him almost immediately, to which he jumped away. They swatted at each other, dug their feet in, and pushed. Brackenstar managed a good smack to the face, sending Houl back!
Brackenstar felt bad, so he didn't charge at her. Probably a stupid thing to do because Houl immediately ran at him! He quickly acted, without much thought, by sidestepping and sticking his leg out. This effectively tripped her and sent her flying out of the circle! He won!
Dec 25, 2018- Brackenstar smirked in the water's reflection. His mane was coming in! At first it was startling because he expected the color to be black, like his father, but instead it was white. He quickly got over it when the other young lionesses kept tossing out compliments. Looking at the water again, he shook his head. Brackenstar watched every little hair he could, wondering how it would shape on his neck.
"What are you doing?" Brackenstar just about jumped out of his skin! The deep voice was quickly made clear that it was Timberstar, his father. The king gave a soft, amused smile as he waited for an answer. Brackenstar sheepishly chuckled," Eh, well, how I looked. I was seeing how I looked since my mane is coming in. I thought it would be black though?"
Timberstar padded closer and looked at his own reflection. As he did so, he rumbled," Well, you do have your mother's eyes. Perhaps you have the mane she doesn't? Not everything about me needs to be passed to you. I can teach you, guide you, and love you but I cannot change how you are." His father's amber eyes lit like orbs in the moon's light as the King lifted his head," Not that I'd want to." With a smile the pair bumped heads. Timberstar left his son to gawk at the arriving mane that would show he was a full fledged lion.
Bramblestar leaves Xiera behind. He smiled as wistful thoughts pooled in his mind. The ashen lioness was quite beautiful. He already wished he was older, for his half filled mane made him look awkward. He knew someday it would be glorious like the sun. That day could not come soon enough. To impress his own lionesses? It was quite a thought. He looks back to where Xiera sits in the sunlight. It made her seem extra special.
