Kirayo was a shoo-in for the position of Queen Ienii’s heir due to being the Pride’s first ever cub born with both a mutation AND a special base color. The Pride traditionally views such blessings as signs from higher beings that a lion is destined to do great things (hence the existence of the Pride Princess tradition). Speaking of this royal lineage, Kirayo also holds the birth title of Twenty-Fourth Pride Prince, being the first of the Pride’s rulers to descend from a previous monarch. His ancestry was recognized as another reason to name him the heir, and so it was that he began his training under the Eighth Queen at a very young age.
Kirayo accepted his role with calmness and readiness (having been prepared for it since birth), but somewhat disconcertingly, many have found that they cannot pin down his actual personality. He seems to always do what is expected of the King, but never expresses any particular proclivities or desires of his own. The Ninth King is notoriously hard to read; however, most of the Pride has accepted this as a benefit to them when it comes to matters of inter-pride politics.
