Strawberry Truffle arrived at his first pride during the Championships as Rosewater, an eager young male with big dreams and an even bigger heart, while Co, the leader of the novel, growing pride had begun to consider retirement. The aging male had first raised his son, Rebirth, to take his place, but he saw as his spawn grew, that the brightly-maned lion had no passion for leading, and was too capricious and distant to properly do so. Within the newcomer, though, he saw much of his own personality, his gentleness and humility enabling him to communicate and easily with the lionesses, the stalwart foundation upon which the pride stood.

(He changed his name after noticing a discarded package of chocolate strawberry truffles left by human tourists resembled his fur and eating it without throwing up.)
