Shyga, in all his colorful glory, stood upon Tuski's territory with little fear, he had met the lion once, they were pathetic, unfit to rule over a pride even with the most training one could offer, and once he'd heard they were a king, he knew there was nothing he could do but challenge them himself. As he entered the mouth of the den in which Tuski rested with his pride, the stench of death reached his nose and he growled, approaching the pitiful excuse for a "king" who rested next to Badger, who looked famished and unwell. He huffed, waking Tuski from his slumber, he appeared to be the only well-fed lion in the den at all, it was clear he kept any and all food for himself, the selfish bastard.

Despite his healthy appearance, the scent of illness was vivid on the king as well, Shyga realized, and he looked somewhat ill as well, and the ferus found that he had been unfit to tend to illnesses even, pathetic. He glared, but Tuski seemed unbothered at the familiar yet challenging face, he knew what was coming, he had waited for it, after all. Shyga watched, but seemed to recognize the look, this was not the face of a malicious king, hungry for power. It was rather the gaze of a tired lion who knew he had done wrong, it was clear, and Shyga himself knew too.

Despite the look in his eyes though, Tuski couldn't be forgiven for treating a pride which the first king of these lands, Peppermint, had trusted to him so long ago. Shyga spent that night with the other, allowing them to rest and feeding the other lionesses who slept in the cave too, and by morning, Tuski was gone, nothing but a memory staining those pretty tusks on Shyga's maw. With the memory of this setback in mind, Shyga formally promised his newfound pride that he himself would see to it that they remained a powerful, and renowned pride. No matter what he needed to do, they would remain.
