Biography
Viridis took in this young male when he was still just an adolescent. Scruffy, lanky and with a distrustful look in his eyes, the young lad at first resented the king and his pride. His father was an other pride’s king, and had, as any good male lion, chased away the concurrence when Auriole grew the first bits of mane onto his neck. Although Viridis had driven off many of his sons over the years, he had taken in Auriole to make him his heir, because he reminded him of his younger self. As was custom in the Crumbling Temples, the heir was rarely of the same bloodline as the king (for inbreeding reasons), and so Viridis chose Auriole for this role. As soon as the king had gained the lad’s trust, he began teaching him all about being a king, and all about this pride’s laws, beliefs and habits. And like a sponge, Auriole soaked it right in, feeling more and more like he belonged. He began viewing the pride as a family, the Temples as his home, and the title of heir as rightfully belonging to him.
