Darkpelt, the King of the Jungle

Whitefang was originally born in the Big Lake Pride. As an adolescent, he left with his brother Darkclaws, with the intention of starting their own pride. However, the two brothers soon had a falling out; Whitefang was sickened by Darkclaws’s cruelty and love of killing, while his brother believed he was too soft. They parted ways, and have not spoken to each other since.

Whitefang went on to form the White Plains pride, and soon became known for his kindness. He refused to kill unless absolutely necessary, and made sure the lions and lionesses who no longer wished to stay in his pride had a safe place to go. Though he doesn’t speak to him anymore, Whitefang still keeps tabs on his murderous brother, and warns anyone passing through to steer clear of his territory.

Whitefang has a pet brown Copris dracunculus beetle named Scarab, who he rescued from a ravenous bird as a larva when he was out exploring one day. She follows him everywhere when he’s not out exploring, hitching a ride on his back or exploring the area while he relaxes nearby. While he’s away exploring, Scarab occupies herself by collecting pebbles and other things she finds interesting, and shows him new additions to her collection when he returns. Whitefang often brings back new plants for her to try, as well as small trinkets he finds that he thinks she might like.
