As Morax had left the throne, his son, Primo were to lead the pride. The pride members held a great ceremony for Primo, excited to have a new fresh leader. Primo had been away for a while, helping a neighbouring pride with their troubles. He had met all the sub males, taking an interest to Axel, and met all the lionesses. The guardians of the Valley of Flowers cave were real nice to him, feeling the cave was homey and warm. The broodmothers gave him some birds as companions as gifts, showing how much they cared about him. When all the interactions with everyone grew to overwhelming for Primo, Axel took notice and dragged him away from his father to a nearby waterhole. "I can sense that you are stressed king" spoke Axel while leaning on a tree, "this whole taking over thing is overwhelming, I have not been trained into taking care of a pride. Everyone has high hopes for me and I feel I can not live up to it" replied Primo. "You will, they will need to be adjusted to you first" smirked Axel. The two cuddled under the tree for a while, dozing off in the glow of the setting sun.
Primo had spent the past few days sticking to Axel. Axel showed the ropes to Primo, commenting on his successes and some improvements. Primo Stayed with Axel in the Valley of Flowers cave, playing with the cubs from time to time. Axel would just sit and watch, smiling at how Primo goofed off to make the cubs smile. Primo noticed Axel watching and he invited him over, having the small cubs leap up and attack him. Primo giggled and joined the pile, snuggling up to Axel. Once he noticed what he was doing, Primo blushed bright red, getting off of him straight away. Primo ran off out of the cave, ending up at the waterhole. Axel hurried after him, leaving the cubs to play with each other. "King what happened?" questioned Axel as he sat near him. "I didn't mean to do that" Primo said shyly, turning away from the other. "I felt good" muttered Axel, "You liked it?" stuttered Primo "would you be angry if I said I did?" questioned Axel. "Of course not" Primo pounced on him, snuggling up to Axel and licking his cheek. "I love you" blurted Axel. Their faces turned bright red, leaving them in silence. "I love you too" muttered Primo, giving him a lick to the cheek again. The two stayed together until it was time to return to the den.
The two had been together for a couple of days now, sneaking out to just be alone together. When Morax found out his son was gay he was angry at first until he saw how the pride reacted. They welcomed Primo and Axel with open arms, not caring if their king was in a relationship with another male. They loved the both of them and Morax had a change of heart. As long as the pride was accepting and thriving, Primo and Axel could be together. The two males wandered into the cave after telling all the others. They slept happily as the sun set into the horizon.
