Khan Amani is the founder and leader of the Crooked Valley pride, situated in an arid and expansive canyon.
Being the runt of the litter, Amani was not expected to become a leader. He was scrawny and weak, having no prowess in battling. He was often picked on by his littermates, and not regarded much by his elders - often to the point of emotional neglect.
Over years of this treatment, the boy learnt to compensate for this weakness by building his mental tact and wit. He had a talent for manipulating lions into doing his bidding, without the need of brute force - surprising his peers, and earning the respect of some.
When the time came, this allowed him to found the pride of the Crooked Valley.
He leads with a very orderly and deliberate fashion; making sure everything is as expected.
Despite this façade of perfection, he still struggles with those feelings of abandonment and disorder he faced as a cub. Lucky for him, his newfound family helps him to cope with life's unexpected changes, or when things don't go according to plan - which he appreciates very much.
...Although the power does get to his head a lot, much to the chagrin of Ezekiel.
Regarding other clans and lions, he does not care for violence. "Confrontation is beneath him", as he says. He'd rather focus inward, onto his own family, than waste time brawling others.
