The God of Death, as they liked to call him. Sure, he’d always had a special connection to the spirits of this earthly plane. And yeah, he seemed to take up the mantle of guiding them to the after life. So what if his job is a little less mundane than everyone else's?
...okay. He is pretty godly, he supposed.
An ancient being, Bwonsamdi's religion and believers have died down in favor of the paths of shamanism and the celestial plane. However, his powers remain true, and his most avid followers are granted safe passage into what they have dubbed the Other Side - an afterlife of eternal rest and salvation. However, he requires rituals in his name to ensure that he is not forgotten. A small price to pay, some may consider.
His two favorite queens, Memri and Siouxsie, are sisters born to the revered Madish. Both have gained an intimate connection to spirits of the Other Side, only accomplished through a traumatic incident that brought them to its very border. However, Memri only communes with the souls who can only see into the future, while Siouxsie interacts with spirits of the past who have roamed the lands for generations. They are formidable apart, but can be easily blindsided by their lack of hindsight and foresight respectively. Together though, they manage Bwonsamdi's mortal pride with the wisdom of ancient kings and genius of the greatest tacticians.
Although Memri is a shaman in her own right and Siouxsie possesses a deep connection with the celestial plane, Bwonsamdi acknowledges and respects the existence of these other beliefs and claims the females as his own. After all, he has lived to witness the rise and fall of many religions - what's two more?
9/15/2018 - During his endeavors with the Harbinger, Bwonsamdi sought to add four certain lionesses to his posse: the Four Felidae of Purification - the chosen lions of the Apocalypse. For each horse had chosen a female to represent them just as the Harbinger had enlisted the aid of the local kings.
He chanced upon Horangi first, the Warmongerer. Well known for her savagery and merciless nature, it was clear that it was the Red Horse of War that had chosen her out of the four. The Loa of Death found her decimating the neighboring pride of lions during an expedition. Although he was glad to be rid of some of his competitors, she was far too close to his females for comfort, and confronted the rampaging lioness with a friendly greeting.
He expected nothing less of a charge in her bloodthirsty haze, and easily met her fury with a calm tactical front. He had lived far too long and experienced plenty of battles for her predictable rage to best him, and within minutes she was defeated and at his mercy. The Warmongerer was stunned and humiliated - her first loss, after all - and stared at the god in disbelief. It didn't take much on his part after that to convince her to join his pride.
