It’s basically, “you are what you eat.” In complicated terms, this young king wanted to make a name for himself. To become strong, powerful, to have his name be echoed through the lands. He wanted to be remembered. He heard of egg yolks being used to gain strength, so he began hoarding and consuming the few eggs he could find in his desolate land; Vulture eggs. As he consumed, he gained power. He had become a king, but he needed to protect his pride. He needed to be stronger. He continued to eat and train, and soon, his mental state became as brittle as the eggshells he crunched on. His temper was short as he lashed out at his pride mates, slinking away to continue to consume and grow. Soon, he was out of control. He kept vultures as humans kept chickens; having them breed and lay more and more eggs for him to eat. The pride saw his fur began to stick out in odd ways, his muzzle become hard and bare, and his legs lose their fur as his claws grew. He had become a monster. Now, there’s no lion left in his eyes. The king that once was, was now a beast. A monster known through the lands. The All Consuming Greed.
