Snap.
Shuichi's eyes would snap open, round with fear, his soft, silky ears folding backwards as he looked around the den, earning a slight scoff from the lioness besides him.
"It was merely a twig, Shuichi. Go back to sleep." his mother would growl, rolling onto her side, her head turned away from her cub as he lay against her back.
"......"
The demiurge-based cub would lay his head on his paws, a slight chill passing through his body as the snap continued to echo through his ears. But this would not be the snapping of a twig.
No.
The snapping of a neck.
His sister's neck.
-----------------------------------
"What is THAT." the king would snarl, stepping closer to the two, newly born cubs that resided inside of his queen's nest.
"..We were both born with the requirements to produce a rare-based, Sir. I do not understand why she's like that."
"She's a common-furred lioness. At least her littermate is somewhat..special."
The queen would shuffle her paws, contemplating. These were her cubs, but yet..
She knew what would happen to the little ones, but..they would die either way. She would be killed for going against her king's orders, and then they would be killed either way.
So..
She stepped closer to her cubs, lifting the small, patchy-furred female by the neck, resting her down on the dirt at her paws.
She raised one paw, and pressed down on the cub's neck.
The cub squeaked.
Snap.
All was quiet.
-----------------------------------------------------
Shuichi would pad through the muddy soil beneath his paws, lifting them higher to give them a quick shake every so often, shuddering. He had never been one who enjoyed wet season, and especially not now.
Now that he was prideless.
He couldn't blame his adoptive mothers. They had run out of room for males in their pride, and of course they would've wanted to keep their real son with them, rather than some pitiful cub that had run away from his former family.
..It still hurt.
"Hey. You."
Shuichi perked his ears up, looking around, before his gaze fell upon a young lioness, with patches akin to his own, laying underneath a tree.
"H-Huh? Me?"
"Yeah, you. Who else is out here in weather like this? You got any meat on you, though? Fruits?"
"A..Ah..not at the moment, no."
"Damn. Alright then, thanks for nothing. Cya."
"...I..um.."
"Maybe I'll have food, once I find the lands my mothers told me about. You could..travel with me, if you want?"
"......."
"I know that was-"
"Sure. Not like I had anything else to do, y'know."
