Lulling Embers, the Sapphic

Lulling Embers is the second ruler of the Eastward Pride.

Her origins, beyond that of Aragoni's knowledge, are unknown to the rest of her pride. First believed to have been a stray cub left behind by her mother, Lulling Embers was actually the property of the pride just westward of their own. Born to a young lioness named Hera and the king, Venom, she was named "Reserves," to be used as food, especially for the later seasons when food ran slim.

The Eastward Pride had been at odds with Venom for many moons due to their constant parade of gluttony and ill-will, even more so upon learning of the horrid conditions within the older lion's camp. It wasn't until a lioness, Cerulean Wings, fled to the Eastward Pride that the true extent of the damage was revealed to him. Taking Cerulean Wings to aid him, Aragoni saw just how vile Venom's practices were; his pride lay in ruins, adolescents and mothers murdered in his fits of madness, and young cubs biting away loose pieces of their decomposing pridemates.

Aragoni fought valiantly, chasing Venom from the pride and leaving what was left to recover within Eastward Pride's home. Cerulean Wings recovered Lulling Embers, then known as "Reserves," to raise, making an elaborate story of finding the cub on the outskirts of the territory. No one needed to know of the horrors the young cub endured. He named her "Ember," believing in her potential, and Aragoni acted as a father for Lulling Embers, teaching her what not to do in his cruelty.

The two were closer than any other pair; although Aragoni never had cubs of his own, he didn't need them. It was Ember who nursed him in old age, and Ember who succeeded him in his lateness- she became Lulling Embers, ruler of the Eastward Pride.
