Chosen NPC is the two pairs of Octopi
Hibiscus was born during the sudden invasion of Snakish Cults.
Hibiscus was adorned by Seth while his mother was off doing missions, gifted wings much like his great grandfather, however tainted much like his grandmother's paradox.
Running around amongst the fires probably wasn't the *best* idea Hibiscus has ever had, but he had to do his best.
There was no water, humans were around, and all the herds left- Hibiscus was lucky enough to snag from stragglers on some patrols.
Thank goodness the fires subsided... the hell is that? What the f- why are there so many?!
Locusts... Hibiscus hates them! Why are they everywhere?!
Killing each one of these things is difficult. Damien is getting older and about to hand over her role to him, meaning he's taking up a lot of his duties early - which includes killing these damn locusts...
But, knowing his mother... she wouldn't be able to kill a single one of these locusts without her monkeys, and even so, they can only eat so much.
On one of his outings with his fellow Submales, Hibiscus met up with a new lion, a nomadic older male who is a bit nutty.
He called himself the Prophet.
Hibiscus was intrigued, hearing many stories about lions such as this, and abot the Harbringer... He recalls his mother telling him stories about the Harbringer and how the Locusts may be a result of them arriving, along with all the omens he's been seeing... but apparently the Harbringer was a guardian of his great grandpaw.
Soon enough, Hibiscus followed this strange Prophet around, listening to his rambles and learning skills he never knew a lion could do.
Damien was not thrilled learning about the Prophet, but permitted him on her lands as long as he behaved himself.
But then... Hibiscus found something interesting when the locusts began to dwindle.
Upon one of the beach fronts of his mother's territory, he had discovered a shipwreck.
For days, he explored and found many shiny trinkets and things, and had discovered a very interesting companion.
A Bi-coloured octopus sporting a similar colour scheme to himself.
His mother never questioned the cephalopod.
She even invited them to his coronation.
The day Hibiscus ascended to the throne and became Damien, it was a transition.
Becoming King is a bit difficult, especially since the changing times make preparing for his reign weird, but luckily all the locusts are disappearing. He just hopes the net coming season would be easier than having to deal with millions of tiny flying annoyances.
How the HELL did it get this bad!?
How did Damien get himself into this situation?
Why is he working with Demons? What's with the whip?
This is terrible!
Fighting Angels left and right, fires everywhere he had stood in the name of working with those demons...
He doesn't even know how he got into this mess.
He had stumbled onto a demon den, he knows that, and one of them had contracted him to work with them. How? He's not sure.
But... it worked out.
He got a surplus of food for his pride. took up most of the responsibility acquiring resources so no one in his pride would get cuaght up in this mess.
As much as he hated this, as much as he wanted to fall out of this contract he had somehow gotten himself into, it had benefitted him.
And he knows, that in the end, his pride will be okay.
And when the war ends and the demons and angels leave, he knows all will be fine.
After a while, he had eventually met the Manticore, Nirah.
Damien had already finished his quota for that day, so he wasn't interested in meeting a new character... but Nirah was interested in him.
Meeting with this peculiar manticore was interesting.
It was almost as if Nirah knew him, or at least, Damien had reminded him of someone.
At some point during the war, Damien had sired his heir.
He was beautiful, with a glorious coat and bright eyes.
And much to Damien's relief, no blackness cursing his back.
Unlike traditions, Damien had decided to name his cub when his personality begins to show, and unfortunately to do that, Damien needed to keep his heir close.
So, much like what his mother did when she had chores to do, Damien had dropped his heir with Nirah to watch while he needed to do his tasks, and returned to pick him up.
It was more ideal than leaving his cub alone.
He knows his Cephalapods couldn't look after a cub all the time, it was the best solution.
And it worked.
Until it didn't.
When his cub was a month old, before he could make it to Nirah, Damien was ambushed by a small flock of Nephalim.
He had made sure to hide his heir before the fight had begun, making quick work of the smaller ones, but having issued with the one bringing flames.
All while his cub watched.
Just as Damien was winning the battle, just as he was about to drive off his opponents like he usually does, the last one in flames had gotten too close to his cub.
And he snapped.
It was fast, quick, and brutal, the taste of feathers and fur still in his maw when he thinks back on it.
The death of a nephalim branded into his soul.
And his cub, baring witness to the death of one of the guards of heaven, staining his back in the blackness cursing his bloodline.
After that... his cub had acted out.
Running off, biting him, breaking things or deliberately ignoring instructions.
Damien couldn't blame him, not after what had happened.
It was Nirah who had proposed his name, and Damien had thought it fit.
Rebel. His heir.
