You were wondering what a weird squealing sound was coming from, and you investigate to find ACTUAL HEIR. batting around a young meerkat. It's still alive.
When seeking ACTUAL HEIR. to say hello, you noticed him playing with a dead warthog piglet.
Your heart almost skips a beat when you see ACTUAL HEIR. drag a tiny, dead lion cub in front of your feet. He dryly informs you it was a trespassing rogue.
LORE:
The gentle rustling of dead branches rang above your head, taunting you with the fate of death by a fallen branch, it was almost like an invisible breeze running through your mane time to time again, but instead this breeze almost felt.. mystical?
You investigated because you’re the king of beasts, duh. Stepping through the undergrowth with heavy alerting thuds. Another breeze passed, before another came chasing after the last breeze, causing you to sink your claws into the ground to catch your balance.
“Who dare goes there.” A loud rumbling voice shakes the ground, you swirl around as the voice echoes from every crack and crevice. Your hackles raise as you fall into defensive position, but the tense dispensed as soon as it gathered as a rather bored voice filled the air, “Oh, never mind, your just a puny lion.” Ok, ow? You swipe around to find the location of the voice, only to spot a lone lioness.
Multiple chains wrapped around her body caused the lioness to stay in either a sitting to standing position for.. eternity? Multiple sigils and marking etched her fur.
“One to stare, aren’t you?” Her voice was neither smooth nor raspy, but instead almost persuading like a demon. “Many others do it too, don’t feel special.” The lioness growled. “I’m sick of you lions… Say, how about we make a deal?”
Uh oh..
“You’re still here?” The lioness spoke calmly, thinly veiling a surprised tone. “Psssh, most lions leave after the deal is done. Whatever.” She scoffed. “Now… What about another deal? Don’t wear that surprised look! Not a bad deal, but where you talk about yourself, and I do the same..” She smirked.
You stared at her, blinking as silence filled the air.
“I’ll take that as a yes!” The lioness laughed. “Hmm… Where to begin… Oh! Yes yes, pleasantries, my name is Kumbukani, it means to remember.” The chained lioness states, more like to remember your actions which led the lioness here.. “I used to rule most of the underworld as a servant of Apophis, heard of that guy? Real mean and ugly? Yeah, used to work for him a few centuries back, got captured and imprisoned for my actions against the world— took a few gods to actually get me under control and even more to put all of these chains on! Can you believe it? 20 divine gods to beat one little lowly demon as me!” Kumbukani laughed, sounding more insane that humorous.
You continued to stare, feeling a little bad that the lioness was trapped here for all eternity, you’ll probably be dead before the lioness is let go.
“Uhh… I was pretty generic, born into a lion pride, my mother was killed after trying to defend me and my siblings from an estranged lion. Made a few deals in the underworld for power, attacked the divine heavens, and ended up here! Pretty normal lion stuff y’know..”
Real generic for sure… I’m sure everybody makes mistakes! (Not ones that include attacking others for their personal gain, that’s for sure.)
