Story time with Staper!
Staper stalked into his den in the dark of night, looking around and using his ears to hear for anything. He twisted quickly and the hoard of βpitter-patterβ of claws coming from behind him. He was tackled by his cubs and adolescents, he boomed with laughter as he fell to the ground with a huff. β β you little rascals. Arenβt you supposed to be in bed? β β he laughed looking at his lionesses who rolled their eyes fondly. β Well! β one of his sons chirped standing atop Stapers head looking down at him. β Ghast said that you have a stories! Well! We want to listen to them! β he declared. Staper looked to Ghast, she laid to her side with a smile.
Staper chuckled and shook the cubs and adolescents off as he sat up. β alright. You want to hear a story then? β he blinked around at the cubs, the adolescents went to sit next to the cubs.
One of his daughters nodded rapidly. β alright then. β he cleared his throat, his lionesses came to sit next to their cubs who quickly curled next to their mothers, listening in on Staper.
β the first lions came from a far away land. They had sharp teeth, long fur, and were quite small. β he blinked. β but, when they traveled to the new land, their fur was too long, teeth too big, and were too small. So they adapted, changing their ways to that of their new land. But one lion wasnβt too keen on the idea of changing so he refused to do so and went to live in the mountains that touched the sky. His name was Mighty. β he crouched down and went into a dull whisper so the cubs had to lean in to hear.
β he was gone for many seasons, and one day the lions heard a thunderous - β he stopped to roar to which the cubs jumped at. β Mighty came down to the ground with claws of steel and teeth of iron. β he chomped his teeth dramatically and the lionesses rolled their eyes. β a little lion came up to him and asked. β what have you been doing all this time up in the mountain?β β to which the lion replied. β Iβve been learning the ways of the sky. β
The king shook his mane as he continued. β and with those words he let out another thunderous roar, and with the roar came a storm big enough to drown the earth. β he whispered. β the storm brought fires, floods, and less prey then ever. The lion who did this sat atop the mountain and watched his chaos as the animals below struggled to survive. Then one day when the storm was even worse, came the same cub who asked the mighty lion what he was doing in the mountain. But now he was a big strong lion and he faced the mighty lion off, fighting for four days. β he stopped dramatically as the cubs seemed to hold their breath.
β and then, the storm stopped. The mighty lion had lost the duel, but with his downfall came a new dawn. The Lion had fought with the mighty lion and won, yet his appearance warped, he had long ears, sharp teeth, and spikes. Like the peaks of mountains were his ears and the sharp ridges that lined the mountains were his spikes and his teeth. β he looked around at his children as he flicked his own large ears. β he was the Mighty King. With his reign over the land came the new appearances that benefited all the prides. Even now, many, many seasons later we see the Mighty King in all of us. β he looked to each lion slowly.
A cub chirped. β does that mean that the Mighty Lion will attack me too? β his mother smiled softly and licked his head reassuringly. β of course not my love. β his mother sent a pointed look to Staper along with some other lionesses to which he chuckled sheepishly at. β ah- yes. Well itβs getting late my little pebbles. β he ushered them to bed with their mothers with many sleepy whines and debates which were quickly drowned in the deep breathing of sleep. When the king woke the next morning he had triple the amount of cubs sleeping next to him then he remembered. He assumed that The cubs were scared last night to which the tired lionesses dropped them off next to him as a reassurance, he huffed a laugh.
