The Usurper King lolls his head towards you as your unfamiliar scent hits his palette. The King bares his teeth and lets out a ferocious warning snarl before laying his head back on the ground. It's too hot today for Makuta to be bothered chasing you. You're safe... for now. Makuta fought for his pride, starting out as a rogue before finding a Pride with a King weak enough to steal it from. He claimed the old king's lionesses but they still bore the old king's children even after Makuta's overthrow despite his predecessor being dead. So Makuta is paranoid, killing or exiling any cub that doesn't look like him or meet up to his standards. He goes as far as chasing away or even killing lionesses he grows tired of. Only one lioness escaped his wrath and that was only because he was fond of her and took her to the wild-life reserve where she lives in peace. But her children were not so lucky as Makuta's claws still cling to them obsessively. Over the years, Makuta sought for perfection and beauty. He picked his heir to be Kronos not because he was strong, but because the Usurper King found him to be handsome and hoped their bloodlines would cross and create beautiful, but terrifying cubs. Eventually, the Usurper King sought out Kings of other lands to mate with his own wives. Makuta hoped for more beautiful lionesses to enter his pride through birth. Yet it seemed that his karma was catching up to him as they all ended up to be males instead. Enraged, by their outcome, Makuta almost slew them as soon as he saw them, mothers included. But one male cub caught his eye. He was beautiful and if the cub were female, Makuta would declare the cub his Queen right there and then. He named the cub Celest in the hope that he'd find a way to turn the male into a female. His brother was named Dreamer. When Makuta announced the cubs as his, the Usurper King noticed his sub-males becoming nervous. If Makuta could not find this magic to turn the male cubs into females, then they would have to find a new home or risk getting slain to make room for the newborns. The King knew this was what they were thinking. But Kronos and Vix were both dear to Makuta. He wouldn't dare harm a hair on their manes.
