Papalymo's Origin Story (ooh fancy. written by xencorex [S2D] 37405)
Papalymo's mother and father, Jahira and King Koenhart, recognized his potential immediately. They had heard of a magical stone that ages any cub into adulthood, all it took was a touch. Koen went off in search of it while Jahira stayed behind to look after Papalymo. It wasn't easy to find, but Koen got his paws on one and returned with his prize. Papalymo touched one paw to the stone and grew before his parents eyes. He stayed with his father's pride only for a short period before Koen nudged him to go off and begin his own pride. Before he left, Koen made a pact with him, they would rule together over both prides. They would be there for each other if either had any problems, and they would share any necessities if needed. Of course, he would have the final say in his pride as Koen would in his. Jahira went with him, to keep him company and teach him the ropes of life - I mean, just a few days ago he was a newborn!
Papalymo picked up on things quickly, learning how to hunt, explore, fight, and build shelter. He didn't stray very far from his father's pride, settling into the snowy mountains nearby.
Along his way he came across a young abandoned cub, Wilred, shivering on the side of the path. He took pity on the little guy and trotted over to him. He sat next to him to help warm him up. Once the cub realized that Papalymo wasn't going to hurt him, he burrowed into the King's side, soaking up his body heat. Jahira came back from scouting the path ahead and found the two sitting together. The King looked up and noticed his mother watching them and gave her a sympathetic smile. He got up and nudged the cub. He re-joined his mother and motioned for the cub to join them. And with that, Papalymo gained his first pride member. Granted, it was just a cub, but he vowed to protect and raise it as his own, and hopefully it will grow up to be a successful member of the pride. The three continued on the path to their new home...
