THE HALLOWED NEOPHYTE IS UPON US... — King Nikolau // The Neophyte — // Irritable // Stubborn // Distrustful // Loyal // // Naïve // Serious // Reserved // Brave // A runt in his litter, the young king was born to the former King as a direct heir. Blessed by good looks and a temper that could send elephants running up trees. However, due to his stunted growth, Nikolau was set aside in favor of another young son. A decision he tried his best to accept—for his father's word was law—but never quite could. From a young age, he befriended Sol Ure, a subordinate male from fararway lands that had been taken in by the former king; Solis Occasum. Sol claimed to have been a former member of the pride, many years ago, despite not looking the age for it. Nikolau brushed him off as a crazed liar at first, though he continued to spend time with the other out of loneliness (and pity). Slowly but surely, however, Sol began to reveal that he knew more about the pride and its past than he let on. Including the fact that he was once also a former heir, thought to have died in a stampede as an adolescent. Stories that Nikolau had heard his whole life as a "reason" why the king of the pridelands had to be big and strong. Stories that he grew to resent. Sol claimed that his death had been divine punishment, and that he was given powers beyond comprehension after the fact... in order to punish the pride for their disloyalty to higher beings. Nikolau wasn't sure what to believe at first, until he witnessed such a thing with his own eyes. Not only did Sol reveal his true appareance, but also his ability to harness the sun's fiery rage. And the pride burned... until there was nothing left but an ashen wasteland that Sol Ure now calls his pridelands. Nikolau's own reside at the very edge of the ashes, having taken over a lush, vibrant waterhole where he offered refuge to the members of their former pride who survived. And they, in turn, pledged their allegiance to the Rising Sun.
