With the status of Queen of the Pride, Malacaie is able to bear offspring with the lionesses of the pride, and is still the only member of the pride who is allowed to do so.
Born to the Good King Krassuss and Wi'ai, and was quickly named a princess due to her strength and humility, and continued to prove herself during both hunts and patrols. When Harnen, the former Heir, chose to step down to Deputy, Malacaie was named the new Heir, despite the fact that she was a lioness and there were two other eligible princes. Krassuss, however, saw the good in his daughter and wished for her to lead the pride once he was gone.
When Krassuss chose to retire, Malacaie took his place, naming Namei as the new deputy, in spite of the fact that the current deputy, Harnen, was still alive. This caused a minor scandal in the pride, seeing as it was against tradition to do this, and thus the four siblings, Malacaie, Namei, Harnen, and Reqon, argued and petitioned over who the true deputy should be. The widely respected former Queen and then-current healer of the pride, Tertulla, and the retired Queen, Ja'mii, both gave their word in support of Queen Malacaie's decision, leading to Harnen respectfully stepping down from deputy. Reqon was angered and attempted to murder Namei to restore Harnen (or himself?) as deputy, leading to his banishment.
Another minor scandal occurred when Malacaie decided to appoint Sima as the new healer apprentice due to her compassion, status (as the daughter of both the former king and queen), and interest in the subject. This upset Renegar (formerly King Krassuss) and some of the older huntresses who had served under Caiomhe, as Laula, Caiohe's daughter had been the previous healer apprentice, and if Jemma (Ja'mii's daughter) were not to become queen, she was to become the next healer apprentice. Queen Malacaie noticed Laula's lack of interest, motivation, and compassion as the healer apprentice, and she also noted that Jemma had always dreamed of being the Lead Huntress. Malacaie made her decision based on this. Tertulla and Ja'mii, the two most respected lionesses in the pride, vouched in support of the Queen's decision, and over time the rest of the pride accepted Sima. While Queen Malacaie has the support of these two most respected lionesses, she has struggled to garner respect due to her youth and status as a lioness.
After some time, Laula had not proven herself, but instead had proven her disloyalty to the king (her father) by bearing a cub that was not approved. After a petition, Malacaie decided to personally escort Laula and her newborn cub to the Men who Protect Lions. It was a sad time in the pride.
During the early days of her reign, Queen Malacaie allowed many new lionesses to join the pride per her preferences. Unfortunately, she was too trusting and allowed many "evil" lionesses into the pride. These lionesses were not content with Malacaie's leadership and wished to put a rebel male in her place; a plan was made and executed, but one "evil" lion, Iri'ti, betrayed the plan to Harnen the royal guard. Malacaie survived, and all lionesses involved were exiled immediately, save for Iri'ti and Gyena (who was carrying Malacaie's cubs at the time, and was later chased). Iri'ti has since proven herself as a loyal, albeit cranky, pride member.
Not long after this, an injured male named Vrash'ner made his way to the pride begging for help. It took moons for Sima to heal him and during that time Vrash'ner and Queen Malacaie struck up a romance. Once he was well enough to go his own way Queen Malacaie proposed that he stay and be her mate - a proposal he accepted.
Before any princes or princesses were named, Queen Malacaie bore a litter of cubs, two lionesses and a lion, with a rogue lioness. The lioness stayed until her cubs were ready to travel, then chose to move on. During this time, Queen Malacaie became exceptionally fond of the young lion, Jiarn. She begged the rogue to let the young lion stay, even though it was highly untraditional and he would not be an eligible heir. The lioness agreed, seeing how much Malacaie and the broodmothers doted over her son, and Jiarn became an official member of the pride. Not long after this, Queen Malacaie and the Prince Consort Vrash'ner bore their first princess, Reya. Reya and Jiarn have been close siblings ever since.
Throughout her early years as Queen, Malacaie took in many "odd" lions, including the Shaman Sheir Renar (and later his apprentice, Amita) and mutated huntresses. She intends to diversify and strengthen her pride as much as possible.
