Born on the longest night so far during the Fall Equinox, a second son to Xasil, king of the Mountain Pride. A hush fell over the pride as Tokaa, the first born son and possible heir to the pride overlooked his younger brother. It was unheard of in the pride for one male, blood of the king, to take over as king in his father's passing, let alone two males; brothers. In earlier generations, it was custom (and through a series of unfortunate events) that a new heir was adopted from other prides upon the king's retirement. It has always been said that, if a male is born from the king and is fit to be heir, they shall be next in line to rule, and if more than one is born, they must duel for it.
The pride could not tell what was going through Tokaa's mind, as now his chances of being king were cut in half, but Tokaa's heart was soft already, and a smile spread across his face. He nuzzled his little brother, and Xasil had named him "Filius" meaning "son". The pride celebrated the arrival of another son to the king. After the celebrations had ended, Tokaa had went to his father, Xasil, and promised to take care of and train his little brother, to give him the best possible chance of defeating him in the battle for the title of king when they became adults. Although the battle between them for position of king was inevitable, it did not stop the brothers from loving each other.
Years passed, and the time was coming for the brothers to battle for dominance. Tokaa had taught Filius all he could learn, and their father had told them that it was time to decide who would take his place after he stepped down. The pride gathered around as they waited anxiously on who their new king would be.
The brothers met in the middle of the area, and gave each other their best wishes. Then, the battle began.

It was dusk when the battle ended. Silence fell across the mountain as Filius emerged from the dust victorious, his brother lay injured. Filius let out a strong victory roar, and the pride erupted into roars of acceptance of their new king. Xasil sat on his pedestal, watching intently, and nodded at his victorious son. He had won.
Filius then turned to his brother, and assisted him back to the caves for the lionesses to care for his wounds. They were not life threatening, and Filius had decided from the love in his heart for his older brother that he could stay in the pride to teach the future cubs how to hunt, as he was a perfect trainer. After the ceremony of the new king, and the stepping down of the old king, Filius returned to his brother, and lay with him.
The pride went on happily. With the brothers working peacefully together, a strong bond of brotherhood and respect between them. Xasil watched on in his old age until death, and even in his passing he knew his pride was left into great paws.
Filius leads the pride with a caring heart and strong paw. He is always present in battles between his pride and enemies, and, although he looks intimidating, he is a huge sweetheart. He is a good fighter, and is also a fair one. But do not underestimate him.
