Narocta the Vain, whose narcissistic attitude has brought ruin to his clan

When he was first born, he was picked as the successor to the King, being born of both him and the High Queen. His royal heritage, unfortunately, was the only thing that got him the title of heir - throughout his entire cubhood, Narocta proved to be a bit of a disappointment among his mentors. Although a competent lion, his habit of staring at himself in lakes and puddles or spending hours just braiding his hair frustrated his teachers. Unfortunately, that was just a symptom of a bigger, more insidious problem with Narocta - he cared only for himself.

Upon being crowned King, Narocta immediately proceeded to not fulfill any of his roles as a king, except breeding and exploring. He did not establish new clan roles, step in to solve disputes, handle hunting patrols... nothing. He only did what served him, which was anything that brought him and only him joy or pleasure. His presence was often heralded by the swooping of vulture wings and the skittering of rats, as they learned when he went to feed he only ate his full - then left the carcass to rot in the sun, never sharing it with other clan mates or storing it for a later date, only leaving it for the carrion feeders.

During this time the various sections of the clans worked together under the royal advisor, Flathir, in order to run the clan in his absence. Narocta, as usual, didn't care - as long as they didn't make his life miserable, he just didn't give a flying fur about the rest of the clan.
