Pride Lore

Once the smallest of all evolved forms of life, Petit Liones struggled to find footing in the savannahs after Pangaea's continental drift left them stranded on the estranged land. No longer would they find small robins and snakes to feast on from the American plains they belonged to. Hunted by bigger predators and many unsuccesful hunts lead to dwindling numbers; they were going extinct. Akubah, the leader of the last Petit Liones group, sat upon a cliff, looking up into the stars. He growled, as loud as his small form could muster, but all in vain. The stars could not hear him. All night, he tried, and tried, and tried again. About to give up, despaired for his group and starving, he collected his frustrations deep in his chest... and roared.
Like a cloudy mist, a form descended from the sky. It smiled, intense white eyes pinned on his. "I have heard you. And, now, so will everyone around you. You have made yourself heard, and for that you shall be known. Lions, rule this land, and tame the unbroken wilds."
With just a touch on the nose, the form disappeared. Akubah, returned to his group with a proud gait, and slept. When he awoke, his paws and body had grown, and now a large mane decorated his neck. With a profound breath, he looked out into the rising sun and roared: 
"We are Lions,
and we will rule these strange new lands."

This pride [The Growle Pride], descendants of the long forgotten Petit Liones, distinguish themselves for their love of the exotic and extravagant. At the moment, they are fascinated with: Jellyfish Lions, Rosetted Lions, and Interstellar Lions. And, like their pride brethren, are fascinated with Muties, especially: Hybrids, Primal Ferus, Succubus Manes, and Piebalds.

Orion was adopted into the Growle Pride after a flood carried him away from his home pride. The King's sister took him in. She fed him stories of their ancestors, and the strange being that descended from the stars to aid them. She named him Orion, after seeing her own starstruck self in him. A terrible drought swept through the land. Ugrowle, their leader, fell sick and, without an heir, lionesses began leaving the pride. Soon followed his sister, Unamni. Orion was left in charge of most duties as he was still healthy and able. He hunted day and night for his sick pride members. The drought was almost at its end when Unamni succumbed to her sickness. Entirely distraught, Orion roared a challenge to the stars, for them to answer him as to why this was all happening to him.
A familiar shape lumbered towards him from above. The fabled being of stars and white eyes stood before him, floating over the cliff's edge.
"Unamni has heard you, and she has sent me to console you, cub. For your devoted service to those who spared you, and the burning love that this lioness holds for you, your cubs will bear the semblance of stars on their pelts, to remind you of our watchful gaze upon you and your pride."
