You pick your way through the rough rock of the desert, your paw pads aching. You haven't seen a single living thing for miles around, save for a few dried shrubbery here and there. However, the smell of water is on the breeze and this alone spurs you on.
After a few more minutes of walking, you can really smell the water now, and you begin to use the last of your energy to bound towards to scent. A growl stops you, and you spin around to see an old lioness with a pelt like gold. You take a wary step back.
"You're trespassing on this territory," she sneers, and you are speechless. "Don't stand there looking dumb, come on in."
She leads you into the crevice of a rock, and once you slip inside you are greeted with a large pool of water protected from the heat by the cave's ceiling and walls. Other lionesses surround the water, grooming themselves or their cubs. A few adolescents run about, full of energy. You can see a black lioness with white splotches look at you from across the cave, and with a flick of her tail, the golden lioness shoves you to her.
"Keep your head down, the Queen wants to see you."
