Forged from the flames of neglect and risen from the ashes of those who have fallen before him.
Banquo was born in captivity at an unauthorized wildlife rehabilitation center in Northern Africa. This center was only a cover for hidden drug-running, illegal animal-selling, and illegal ammunition manufacturing. Banquo was born in a concrete room, surrounded by barrels of gunpowder. Banquo's mother was sold shortly after his birth, leaving him to bottle feed until he was 6 months old. He was sold at an auction as a cub and sent to a mansion in the southern United States, where he lived until adulthood. He was neglected and treated as a showpiece for the humans to brag about, causing him to grow cold and disdainful. Banquo picked up the Southern accent from those around him at that time. When he got too big to keep, his owner sent him back to Africa in exchange for a cub.
Banquo returned to his life of auctions. 2 years of this, and they hadn't found a buyer. His mane was not thick and luxurious, but rather thin and mangy, making him an unpopular choice. When he turned 4 years old, the center had enough. They put Banquo in the room he was born in and loaded a rifle, Banquo had seen this before. He knew what was going to happen. He was going to be killed.
In a panicked rage, Banquo charged. The gun was fired in equal panic, missing Banquo and igniting the barrels of gunpowder that lined the room. The whole building went up in flames, there was screaming and yelling. People were running around like chickens with their heads cut off. In all the chaos, Banquo made a break for it, running out of the building, but stopping just at the entrance to watch it all burn before him. It was beautiful, it was justice.
A few months later, Banquo is officially traversing the African savannah. He was alone, but not weak. When he saw these prides of lions all around him, his anger grew. He didn't need a pride. Lions belong on their own in his eyes, after all, he'd done just fine by himself. This belief only lasted 2 months until he ran into another male lion. Similarly to him, this lion's mane was thin and mangy, which drew Banquo's attention. The two lions shared similar views on the world and ended up becoming decent friends. This other male was named Feo Grande, he was the king of the pride Banquo had found himself in. Banquo could stay so long as he worked to train Feo Grande's heir - Feito. Banquo worked hard and ended up seeing Feito as his own.
This lasted until Banquo was 5. One summer day, Banquo witnessed Feo attempt to drown a lioness - named Rice. Banquo is not a good-hearted man in any sense of the word, but his pride kicked in and in a turn of events, he ended up with Feo's blood on his paws and a very scared lioness looking at him as if he were a hero. To cover his tracks, Banquo sent Rice to live with another lion by the name of Lambert- a sweet-hearted but stern king.
Banquo took on responsibility for the pride as Feito was too young.
