The history of this pride began as usual, like many others. Taonga, a native of the southern lands, was expelled from his own family and wandered for several years in search of a suitable place - it was worth settling down and starting new lives in a new pride.
Slowly but surely, the Clawbiters pride has flourished. Taonga and several lionesses devoted to him found a great place - a part of the savannah with a nearby river. Several natural caves served as shelters for the lionesses of the entire pride.
Taonga turned out to be a fair king, but he had one negative trait - he expelled the so-called “marther cubs”, those who did not have a bright appearance and were weak. The lionesses initially tried to protect their cubs, but Taonga was relentless. Sometimes he even banished the lionesses.
Despite the growing tensions in the pride, life went on as usual. Among the lions appeared the adopted son of Taonga and his heir in combination - the dexterous, cunning and intelligent Odysseus. He was mostly alone, preferring not to hang out with lionesses, although some of them tried to hit on him...
The peaceful life of the pride was cut short overnight when Taonga fell off a cliff. The members of the pride remembered that hunt, which ended in grief, for a long time... After three days of grief, Taonga was buried under a sprawling Mog'hati oak tree, as required by tradition.
Titani, the de facto queen of the pride, was inconsolable. Grief overwhelmed her, she retreated into a corner of the cave of the Harbingers and never came out again. Shetani, worried about her friend's condition, brought her food and tried to talk to her, but to no avail.
Two weeks after Taonga's death, Odysseus became king and took the name Ares. He was still a little indifferent to the lionesses of his pride, but he did not kick out any of those who were with Taonga in the Clawbiters pride. Refusing to choose a queen for himself, Ares nevertheless made sure that the broken ex-queen Titani lived out her life in contentment.
Ares chose a small plateau with a couple of rocks on it as his own secluded place, where the whole earth was covered with ashes and the grass was scorched. These were the consequences of the Great Fire that occurred even before the appearance of Taonga in these lands. This small area was quite consistent with the character of Ares.
Ares's methods of ruling were widely condemned. He was moody and absolutely uncommunicative, and was sometimes subject to outbursts of aggression and rage. Ares killed any male who wandered into the territory without mercy, while the females were accepted with condescending words: "Live here as long as you want." However, despite his character, Ares was selflessly devoted to his own pride, always protected them and never offended the lionesses, although he could roar at them briefly - this was enough for the brazen lioness, with her tail between her legs, to get out of harm's way into her lair.
A strange lioness appeared in the pride sometime ago. She was quiet, calm and even somewhat timid. The others paid special attention to her character - there were no such fearful lionesses in the pride yet. Mary and several teenagers tried to bully the newcomer, but Ares intervened. Having dispersed the offenders, he explained the rest of the situation - do not touch the "new girl" in any case, if he finds out, he will kill those who try to do any harm to her. Fearing the king's wrath, the lionesses were forced to accept his terms. But Simalla - that was the name of the new lioness - turned out to be extremely non-confrontational and quickly became friends with many lionesses. Ares brought Simalla closer to him, and despite his indifference to the lionesses of his pride, he became attached to her.
Rules:
1. The king, his beloved one, the king's right paw (part—time warlord) and the soothsayer (prophet) are untouchable.
2. Never steal food - you will be severely reprimanded.
3. For an attempt of the king’s assassination — death.
4. Open condemnation of the king's rule in the pride is unacceptable. Those who are dissatisfied will be expelled or punished.
5. Pregnant lionesses and lionesses with cubs should not participate in hunting.
6. Every lion cub at 5 months old must undergo a Tjarskall ritual, which will show its role in the pride and give it the Anharš name.
7. Hunting should never end unsuccessfully. If something went wrong and a large prey was not caught, the hunters should not return with empty paws - let them catch at least a few jerboa.
8. All lion cubs must train hard to become good hunters and patrollers.
9. Share food with your suffering tribesmate.
10. Even if a lioness has a strange appearance, no one except the king has the right to expel her from the pride.
11. Slanderers, regardless of the situation, will be severely punished.
12. You are not obliged to honor the Lion Gods (Xantar and Alvia), but never blame others for their reverence for the gods.
13. Defend the territory of your pride as much as you can.
14. If a lioness does not like the pride, she has the right to leave it only if she does not have cubs from the king himself. If a lioness has left the Clawbiters pride, she should not set up the pride where she will stay against him.
