An ocean of stars ebbs and flows in the sky between two sheer cliff faces. In the gap, a cloak of darkness obscures the mountain tops. It is a cool night, and everything is still.
Among the stillness lies a large male lion. The pale moonlight illuminates white patches in his fur, and the stars bounce off of his dawn-colored eyes as he gazes up towards space. He listens to his pride sleeping softly in a cave not too far from him; todayβs hunt resulted in full bellies, a good nightβs sleep, and a sense of peace. During nights like these, he honored his ancestors among the stars. As a light breeze combs through his ebon mane, one of his lionesses emerges from their den.
βEsau?β She trills, her voice a soft sonata.
His ears turn towards the voice, though he remains still. βYes, my queen?β
βI was hoping to find you here,β she replies, a pleasant smile on her face. She nuzzles her king, her white patches beginning to glow under the moonlight. Esau gazes at her as she lays alongside him. His Dew Drop; his beautiful queen. Together, they lay awake watching the twinkling stars. Tomorrow, a world of trouble resides. But for now, all is well.
As dawn approaches, the pride begins to stir. Magnificent roars travel between the cliff faces, bouncing down the canyon and releasing into a nearby valley.
