Hailing from the Pride of the Everlasting Sun, Barbarus was the second son of the reining King-- Modius. Like all male lions, the time in which he'd had to leave his home alone was steadily encroaching. However, a cluster of the lionesses there-- most notably Ave, Barbarus's best friend-- were unhappy with the expected ruling of Modius's eldest son: Karver. Karver was rude, abrasive-- and though he was a skilled leader, that personality is what had 5 lionesses slinking off into the night after Barbarus.

Of course Karver, skilled as he was, would notice such movements and do what he could to stop it. They were his lionesses after all, his pride. He did not expect to be pinned. He did not expect to be blinded by an unapologetic Ave-- the last sight he'd ever see-- and be abandoned there to be found at dawn.

Barbarus was horrified when he learned of this one airy night, grooming Ave with their cubs festering in her womb. But, if she hadn't done everything she needed to in order to pursue him, he would be alone. Somehow, that was worse.

Should their old pride ever come looking, Barbarus is prepared to take the blame.
