After a long day of exploring in the sweltering heat of the savannah, the sight of a waterhole was almost a dream come true. As you desperately stumble to the crystalline clear lake to drink you fail to notice the large pride of lions that eye you curiously and from their variety of shady alcoves in the small cliff face surrounding and protecting the waterhole. The dull cawing of a nearby crow is heard overhead, considering where you were, the noise was definitely unexpected. As you paused to search the skies for this crow your attention is drawn by heavy footfalls and the shrill clinking of metal resonating from behind you. As you turn around, the suffocating stench of charcoal fills your nose.
A large dark lion, a ferus you soon realize, lumbers near; adorned with many silver bands and jewelry, sooty markings are smudged across the creature's face and legs, you also notice two twin feathers peeking out from the ferus's characteristically short mane. Though the adornments aren't what caught your immediate attention. In fact, the first thing you noticed was the set of overgrown fangs that jut out from the beast's maw. Along with the numerous deep scars that mar the lion's body. A deep guttural growl emits from the lion as a set of chilling white eyes pierce through your entire being. With his dramatic and intimidating appearance, you assume that this menace of a creature must be the king of these lands.
The king, despite seeming to be very hostile and agitated with your presence, must have noticed the pitiful state you were in. With another low growl, the beast turned and trudged towards the largest of the many caverns littering the dusty cliffsides. You could only assume this meant you were allowed to stay, though you were unsure how long your presence would be welcomed. With what you assumed may only be a little time, you decide to rest your weary bones, the feeling of being watched would persist for the rest of your stay.
