Pride of the Doomed

Your paw steps seem to sink into the dewy grass, distant caws from crows and ravens surround you. The feeling of regret crept through your stomach as each step made your heart lurch. You had heard rumors of the Pride, nothing good of course. You couldn't help but wish you listened to your fellow pride leaders. This wasn’t a good choice, your irrational thinking and curiosity over-came you and now it would lead to your demise.
A twig snap forced your mind back into reality, you froze. As you glanced around, you realized the fog that wrapped around your paws, you began to analyze the territory.

Fog cloaked the ground, hiding the dark dewy grass below. The trees were tall and looming, their branches overgrown with thick dense leaves that hung over like a vine in the jungle. You could barely make out the closed sky from where you stood. Nothing seemed right, there was this off-putting stench and the aura seemed to almost choke you. You had to get out of here, this place wasn't right. Nothing was right.

You began to panic, fear flooding your senses as your heart beat echoed in your ears. With quick movement, your turn to run, to your pride and your home, to your safe place. As you turn to face where you came from, you paused. Everything looked the same, where were you?
