The Legend of the Water Hole
Legends of this lost pure water hole tell of water so pure and untainted, yet it's guarded by a ghostly lion. This lion searched with his pride for 5 days and 5 nights, wandering the desert-like land. It was Africa's worst drought. In the distance the malnourished, dehydrated pride saw in the horizon a few trees; still standing with all their leaves. As they got halfway there, each lioness started to drop, unable to go on. The lion saw his pride would not make it the rest of the way, so he ran ahead. Right as his final lioness dropped, he pushed his way threw the overgrowth to find a water hole unlike any other, full to the rim and sparkly clean. He bent down to take a mouthful of the water, and under his weakness, clasped into the water instead. The dehydration, lack of food, and running and walking had finally caught up with him. Unable to keep his head above, he drowned.
They say his ghost protects the waterhole, overseeing who is worthy to drink, his mane darker than night for the hate of his loss. They also say his pride stayed with him to live out their (after)life that could have been. Some say if you touch his mane, you will be overburdened with hate and sorrow for the rest of your life. Others say if you touch it, you'll die and have to live out your afterlife forever with the feeling of hunger and thirst, unable to satisfy either craving.

The Real Water
While the legend is partly true, some aspects clearly aren't. The real water hole is in fact guarded by a pride, and the founders were both Albino lions. Tho once in a while, the ghost of the past will come back to check in on their former pride, talking to new members and kin who still live among the living.
