It was a dark and story day for the pride, Mitch and one of his lionesses Pandora were secluded in his personal hut. All the humans and even the other lions did not dare venture out in the storm, leaving them completely alone. It was not supposed to be like this, she was not supposed to give birth so early, yet here they are. Pandora was on her side panting as the pains grew worse. All Mitch could do was stay by her side and prayed that the suffering would end for her and his cub.

As the thunder clapped above them Pandora let out one final roar before it all stopped. In between the falls of rain the quiet mews of a cub could be heard. Mitch dared to look and was astonished. There his cub was, fur kissed by the starry night, they even had some mutation genes in them. But it was the black wings growing from their back that made Mitch froze in place. Those wings that reminded his so much of the lion that saved his life.

That was when he remembered the power they had surge through him, it must have been transferred to this cub. Mitch knew, deep within himself that this little cub would be the new ruler of his pride.

Pandora licked her cub clean with all the love she had, but Mitch could see she was tired and at some point took over as she fell asleep.

The next morning the storm calmed and some of the humans rushed to Mitch's hut, knowing of the acurance that happened the night before. Both Pandora and the cub were taking to the clinic to make sure they were alright. And not one batted an eye at the cub's unique feature, maybe because they also knew Mitch would not allow anyone to take his cub away. As the humans confirmed all the lions were healthy one of the females walked over to Mitch with the cub in hand, wrapped cozily in a warm blanket. Their mews still loud as it echos through the clinic walls.

She knelt down as Mitch sniffed the cub, "What should we name him?" her voice was soft. Mitch perked up at the sound that he now has a son to take over the pride. He let's out a gentle rawr, a language that no human was able to understand but only between the fellow lions. The female smiled as if she understood what he was saying, "Johnny, I like that. Welcome to the world Johnny."

Mitch placed his nose against the cubs forehead, "Welcome to the world my son." Being able to hear her the young cub, now known as Johnny let out a small rawr.

A few years have passed and Johnny was now an adolescent. He sat at the edge of the pride looking out across the lands. The thing was he never fitted in with his pride. Although everyone was welcoming he felt, different. Like he was intruding on their home. While in thought his father came up from behind him and sat down next to his son. "What is on your mind?" Their voice was deep as the lion grew older.

Johnny's wing twitched as he looked over at his father, "Oh hi dad. Nothing much, just wondering." Mitch gave them a small smile, "Wondering about what?" Johnny knew he could always tell his father about any problem he had not matter how bizarre it might sound. So the lion took a deep breath and poured their heart out.

"I don't feel like I know who I am. I know I'm your son but I feel there is more to me then just a lion with wings." That last part came out in an almost hiss. Johnny resented the idea that he was different and wished to be normal. His father moved closer to him, resting their paw on theirs, "Then why don't you go and find out?"

Johnny's eyes widen and his mouth agape. Did his father really just suggest what he thinks they did?

"You mean?" Johnny looks back at the lands in front of him. And all Mitch did was nod his head. It was all it took before Johnny jumped onto his father, rubbing their heads together as he thanked them.

It caused his father to laugh and smile, "Just promise me you'll be safe." Johnny could only nod his head as he felt tears coating his eyes. And in an instant they jumped over the boarder and trotted into the open lands.
