ABOUT
The Savannah Pride lives in a grassy savannah in the center of which sits a cozy watering hole. It was founded by Badru the Magnificent and is currently ruled by his great grandson, Ajanî. The Savannah Pride is made up of lions with kind and good personalities, with red, cream and golden base coats and generally naturally-colored markings. They adorn themselves with bones, leather and other natural materials, and their names originate from the continent of Africa.
HISTORY
The pride was founded by Badru, who took a lioness called Naliah as his Queen. Naliah was a vain and vapid creature who refused to do much more than lounge around. It fell to the pride’s Majordomo, Mandla, the head Broodmother, Thandiwe, and the head huntress, Sade, to do what the Queen would not.
When one of his adolescent males stole one of his lionesses and left to form his own pride, Badru was not angry. Instead, he expressed interest in forming an alliance between their two prides and sharing resources between them. Though both pride are very different, this arrangement has been ongoing, with both Badru and Talos’ successors continuing the alliance.
Badru chose to keep his bloodline clean and was unwilling to mate with his own descendants. Instead he carefully chose other Kings to breed his daughters and granddaughters. It was from one of his daughters, Sait, that his heir was born: Nzere.
With his health failing, Badru prepared the pride for his grandson to take his place, sending away all of his daughters so that Nzere would be able to build a new pride with fresh blood. However, unknown to Badru, his grandson and one of his daughters, Melokuhle, conspired behind his back. Nzere was quite fond of his aunt - more found than his grandfather would have found acceptable. He wanted Melokuhle to be his Queen. So Melokuhle went to live in Talos’ pride for a time, until Badru retired and Nzere took his place as King. Badru was not pleased with his grandson’s choice of Queen when it was revealed to him, but there was nothing he could do about it.
Nzere's regin was long and peaceful and he was succeeded by his son, Ajani.
