A Land Stained with Blood
The Blackened Lands were not always a place of despair. Once, they were known as the Verdant Expanse, a paradise where rivers wove through golden grasslands and herds thrived under the watchful rule of noble kings. The pride that ruled these lands was one of honor, tradition, and unity—a sanctuary for the strong and the weak alike.

But paradise does not last forever.

When Oren arrived, he did not come as a rogue seeking a home. He came as a conqueror. The reigning king, a lion known as Maelor the Wise, had heard whispers of a monstrous Smilus carving a path of destruction through the southern territories. He had dismissed these tales as exaggerated fears. But when Oren emerged from the mist of dawn, flanked by warriors who had pledged their lives to him, Maelor realized too late that the stories had been true.

The battle was swift and merciless. Oren did not simply defeat Maelor—he dismantled him. Before the eyes of the pride, he shattered the old king’s spine, letting his broken body serve as a symbol of the land’s new ruler. The pride had no choice but to submit, and the Verdant Expanse was no more.

From that day forth, the land was known only as The Blackened Lands, named for the scorched earth where Oren had burned the remnants of the old pride’s rule. The rivers, once clear, ran dark with blood in the early days of his reign, and the trees bore the claw marks of battles fought and lost.
