pride description

The Haijulikani Pride [AKA The Pride of the Unknown] had originally resided within the depths of the jungle but after Keaanu II took over, the pride ended moving into the deserts, making their home within the canyons and caves.

Cubs are often not named until they reach 5 months and until then, are merely called 'son' or 'daughter' or just 'cub'. This is so that one may not get easily attached in case anything drastic were to happen to the child.

Elderly lionesses who are no longer able to bear cubs usually work as broodmothers, watching over the young cubs who can not yet protect themselves, as many mothers may be too busy or are assigned to hunting duty. After around 200 hunts or when they reach age 14, a lioness will retire from being a huntress.

The royal bloodline may not have any instances of inbreeding. Only clean lions are allowed to be kinged and only clean subordinates and lionesses are allowed to reside within the Royal Chambers. Once a subordinate or lioness reaches age 14, they are moved in the 'Very Low Fertility & Elderly' cave.

pride history

Formed within the humid and hot jungles of the land, the first king with such a reputation one could think he was evil incarnate, came to rule with an iron paw. The Devil's Drink, he was named, or for short, Devil, a fitting nickname for such an evil lion. Self-centered and brash, Devil cared little for the well being of his pride, often overworking them and threatening death had they dared disobeyed. Rarely batting an eye to those in need, he rarely often took pity on those who he came across, finding sick entertainment in their suffering. Though, he often held a soft spot for a lioness of the name, Amabilia who he would deem his queen.

Complete opposites, the two surprisingly were able to get along just well. Amablia being more well-mannered and kind, which often contrasted with the rude aggressive nature of her mate. They had many cubs but she would birth only one son who would soon take over the throne. Originally named, Caelestibus by his father, the cub grew up under strict rule. Often the victim to mistreatment and his father's harsh words, had it not been for his mother, who knows how different he would have turned out. No matter how much his father trained him to grow up to be just as cruel and to kill and harm and show no mercy or sympathy, his mother was always there to lead him back onto the right path.

Caelestibus grew up to be a fine young lion, the complete opposite of his father. Well-mannered and kind, he cared deeply for those within the pride and the death of his father was the greatest gift he could ever receive. He would rename himself to, Keaanu, not wanting to carry around a name that was given to him by his father. Despite his pelt being decorated with scars received from the mistreatment of his father, Keaanu did his best to rid himself of any attachment to the evil he called kin.

As leadership was passed to Keaanu, the pride was skeptical, not sure what to receive from the son of the evil king. However, Keaanu was nothing like his father. He was compassionate and kind and always made sure to put his pride first. He cares greatly for his pride and will drop his compassionate and kind personality in a second anytime something came to threaten his kingdom. It wasn't rare to see him with various wounds from the fights he would get into to make sure that everyone was safe.

Often seen with other animals and even humans, Keaanu's kindness spread far beyond his own pride. He often took in orphaned baby animals and has on more than one occasion helped a lost human cub back to their family. Keaanu took a very strong fondness for birds and flowers and often let the cubs and lionesses of the pride decorate his mane with different kinds of flowers.

Like his father, Keaanu would only have one son, Keaanu II who was quite the handful, often getting into fights and sneaking away from the pride to go hang out with friends. He was rebellious and self centered and Keaanu often feared that his son would not be fit to take over.

Keaanu II was very fond of The Championships, often training and honing his fighting skills whenever he wasn't being taught the ways of being king. Often times he would roughhouse with his many younger sisters but would always be told off by his father, as he did not want his huntresses to be injured in their wrestling matches.

Soon came the day when his father became too old to lead the pride and Keaanu II stepped up and became king. As leadership was passed to him, Keaanu's attitude changed from a carefree young lion to a bold and wise leader. Though, he often still holds onto that childish side of him.

After some run-ins with various poachers, Keaanu II would move the pride into the desert where they were able to make their home within the canyons which made it easier to hide from poachers and other dangers that may arise.

When Keaanu died, Keaanu II was devastated, even more than when his mother had passed. To this day, his father's death still effects him as can be seen by his attitude. Keaanu II has become more withdrawn and reserved, often lashing out at those who offer their help. He often takes his grief and anger out through violent means and often gets into fights. Now having donned a skull of one of his victims, he refuses to take it off, not ever wanting to see himself ever again as his face reminds him too much of his father.

Keaanu II would have various sons, though, they would often be given away or have left the pride on their own terms. However, his first son, Keaanu III remains in the pride and yearns for the attention of his father. Often going as far as to do the most dangerous and risky acts of rebellion to just to get his father to pay attention. Though, nothing has worked.

As for becoming king, Keaanu III is not too sure on how that will turn out. His father clearly isn't willing to teach him.
