Pride Info

The Climber Pride, full of agile lions, most of them taken in before their prides got rid of them; a place for new starts, for the outcast and rejected seeking a second chance. This is a fraction of their territory, under the fair rule of a Regent and his Lady. Lord Abadan and his King, Mawingu Ya Mkweaji, welcome you with open paws.

Traditions and Lore

King Irantu, founder of the Climber Pride, decided to make some nice little holydays and sacred celebrations or rituals that would forever remain tradition within his kingdom. Such include:

March of Wanderers (february 10): In honour of the first Regent of the Climbers, Qonsa the Clever, who disappeared in mysterious circumstances while exploring the southern arid deserts. It is also the anniversary of second Regent's rise to power, Abadan the Wanderer. During this celebration, the pride marches through the territory towards the outskirts of the desert; there, all the pridemembers collectively use their calling roar.

Sky Guardian Festival (march 8): In honour of the third King of the Climbers, Hari Ya Mkweaji. This celebration is to remember the many deeds of one of the strongest lions the pride has ever seen, a revolutionary ruler that came up with the idea of creating an official dynasty and a family name that would last for generations to come. The pride gathers and roars together, and feasts upon the best meat stashed. The current King sings of the deeds of Hari, the "Sky Guardian".

Manblood Feast (june 15): In honour of the second King of the Climbers, "Wembe" Nyekundu. This celebration is to remember the triumph of the prune-pelted King against the invasion of human poachers; it is celebrated during the anniversary of his death. In honour of their ancestor's greatest deed, all pridemembers engage in a festival and have a feast with the biggest carcasses stashed in the hoard.

Scarlet Stone Memorial (september 9): in honour of the fourth King of the Climbers, Chubuko Ya Mkweaji. This memorial is held in the name of the old King, who was murdered in a coup d'etat by one of his subordinates. Hakuna Nywele, the usurper, killed the lion when he was too old to survive the ex-general's attack, and the other male and rightful heir Upendo wasn't around to save him. All the pridemembers reunite around the boulder where the old King was resting when the traitor did his move, and roar as a sign of respect.

Fall of the Scarred Demon (november 9): in honour of the defeat and execution of the fifth King of the Climbers, Hakuna Nywele. A great banquet is held to celebrate the rise to power of Upendo of the Sunset, who restored the lineage and took down the previous tyrant; after the feast, the pride reunites to commemorate those who were murdered by the terrible lion during his dark reign.

Roar to the Queen (december 7): In honour of the first Queen of the Climbers, Renka the Gentle. This celebration is to remember all Queens of the past, by having the current Queen tell the story of every Queen of the Climbers; after this, the pride will feast upon the best meat stashed on the hoard, and roar together at sunrise.

Sunset King Celebration (november 21): In honour of the sixth King of the Climbers, Upendo Ya Mkweaji, this celebration marks the end of the Restoration period by commemorating the passing of the beloved monarch; his entire reign was dedicated to returning the Climbers to their former glory. To celebrate, the pride reunites under the twilight sky and spend time together: the current King then recites a small speech that highlights the best aspects of the Climbers as a whole.

Warrior's Solstice (december 12): In honour of the first sub-male of the Climbers, Kwezi. This celebration is to honour and praise the males of the pride; this is to remind the forever-brave subs of the pride how important they are and how much the pridemembers appreciate their hard work.

Alliance Anniversary (december 19): In honour of the first alliance subdivision of the Climber Pride, created by King Upendo of the Sunset and Regent Qonsa the Clever. During this time, the small subdivision and the main pride reunite and feast together for two days and two nights, and strengthen the bond between all the pridemembers with common and shared activities, and compete in many special trials to praise the best of each group.

Nights of the First Star (december 26): In honour of the first King of the Climbers, Irantu the Kind. This celebration is to remember the deeds of the original King, the founder of the Climber Pride. The current King must tell his story during this night and, like the original King in his last day, roar into the heavens from the top of the highest rock, as a form of salute to the star of Irantu, and all the deceased pridemembers that watch over the Climbers.
