What I'm suggesting is something similar to that, a version of what I personally understood from that thread:

We could have a 'virus' based event. In explore, you'd see a bunch of sick and dying animals, find infected carcasses in hunting and explore, and of course have the currency mentioned in the thread linked above.

However, this virus would not actually have a high chance to kill your lions. What I am thinking, is possibly, the virus can be transmitted into your pride through various things.

There could possibly be an area you can go to, to allow a maximum of three lionesses to rummage through and attempt to find a prize, such as event currency, possibly decor, a carcass, a few SB, whatever.

However, if a lioness fails to find a prize... they have a chance of becoming infected with the virus. If the lioness is left untreated, she could spread the virus to other pride members, and have a high chance of death if not cured within three rollovers.

There would of course, be a herb that can be used to cure the virus, which can be purchased for semi-cheap from the event shop, or it could be an SB item.

You can also sacrifice both infected and non-infected lions to "The Pit" to prevent the disease from spreading and rid your den of unwanted/un-needed lions, and you'd get a small prize for it like the Celestial event's 'murder stone'. "The Pit" would be a quarantine area where lions will go to die.

You can also have a small chance of gaining the virus by feeding your lionesses infected meat, or through hunting, etc. For hunting though, it'd be a small chance.

When a lioness catches the virus, you will get a notification. You have three days to cure her before she dies.

Also, the cure will be pretty cheap to get, so you don't really have to worry about favorite lionesses catching the illness and dying. ^^
