Suggestion: Allow the 60% carcasses to be 'shredded' into smaller portions. Each portion would be worth 30%; however there would be twice as many portions available from that carcass. This allows more of the pride to be fed. Even if it is for less of a %. Alternative Shred Option If the Meat is shredded into the pre-existing Meat Chunk (Large, Medium and Small) items then the percentage, and all the coding are already implemented into the system. These items would then determine the percentage. (Possibly even using the last 'serving' to create a Rawhide) Reasoning: Each carcass is worth a certain amount of % toward hunger. They range from 5 - 60% (haven't found any higher yet). I feed my pride when they are at 40% hunger. However, sometimes when I go to feed them all I have is carcasses worth 60%. Using a carcass for a lioness that does not need that much food feels like a bit of a waste to me. For example, I had a cub that I was sending to a new home. She had 20% hunger. I make sure that my cubs are fully fed prior to shipping them off. However, the only thing I had to feed her was an Elephant Calf Carcass. These are worth 60%! To me this felt like a waste of food. With the Shred Meat Option, I could have shredded the Elephant Calf into smaller portions and not wasted an entire portion on the cub. This would also help ease the perpetual problem so many with large prides have - lack of food. I spent an entire day hunting, regularly checking Lioden every half an hour to send my lionesses on a hunt. At the end of the day, they still did not quite have enough food for the pride. The reason for this was due to the amount of servings available per carcass. If there was a way to shred the carcass into more, but smaller, portions, this would allow more of the pride to be fed on less food. It would also allow those with not enough money to simply buy the food to feed their pride a little better. Edit: Shred Meat is a good option for those who cannot get on line every 25 minutes to start a new hunt. It would give the ability to feed more lions with less food. -------------------------------------------- Suggestions by Others Camo: Just a thought for those concerned about the meat market, simply make the shredded meat unable to be sold/traded/transferred so only whole carcasses/somewhat eaten carcasses are only allowed to enter the market. :) Ni'Vara: The item "Shredded Meat" could just not give stats. Also, non-transferable. Ancient Wisdom: As these items already exist, mayhap using the function 'Shred Meat' would turn the aforementioned carcasses into Large, Medium and Small Meat Chunks? The percentage of the carcass might determine the size of the resulting Meat Chunk. Then only minimal new coding is necessary to complete this suggestion. RottandArtist: if you shredded the meat, the gains from shredding it could be offset a little by turning it into however many pieces of meat, and one rawhide. Rawhide could then have one use (either in events as we have seen, or as a playtoy, like any other single-use toy.) |

This would save me the trouble of figuring out what to do when I have lions to feed but not the right food. I am ok with under feeding my lions by 10% but hate over feeding them or running out of food. 0 players like this post! Like? |

You could just feed your pride at 60% ;) Saves lots of food and time wasted with lesser carcasses. Edit: Also, it's easier to manage a larger pride if your lions don't reach, say, 60% hunger at the same time. I feed about one-third of my pride every day, since I've managed to separate them into reaching 60% on different days. 0 players like this post! Like? This is true, I could feed them at 60%; however that does not quite solve the problem of not having enough food for them. Even if I feed 1/3 of my pride, I might still need that extra four servings that the Shred Meat option could provide. >.> I also don't like seeing that evil red line that appears in the den when the lions begin to starve.... Yes Mask, you could just feed them at 60% but it would still be more efficient if we could shred the carcasses to smaller portions xD I hate getting that stupid inbox message whenever I have lions that are about to leave and I don't enjoy panicking to make sure all the 60% hungry lions get fed by the end of the day. Edit: Another idea could be assigning a certain collective percentage to each carcass, so that when you feed your lioness it will use say, 20% out of the total 300% for uses it has? And then on a hungrier lion that's at 60% hunger, it'll use 60% out of 300% and leave you with 240% remaining. Weird to explain but that could also work. 0 players like this post! Like? Oh yeah that could work too - though I think it would be more complicated to program for our admin. >_< Thanks for the feedback Larvirawr! 0 players like this post! Like? |

Hm, maybe. I doubt the option would break the market though :) Thanks for your feedback! 0 players like this post! Like? |

Hmm, not sure support-wise. There is the problem that people could shred 60% carcasses down to 5% ones for 12x the odds at earning that extra stat from feeding. I think it's a 1-6/7% chance, depending on the carcass type? (Totally doesn't pay any attention to this, loves feed-all) Reducing that to 12x 5% filling chunks with the same % chance to gain a stat while not a huge impact on the market, could be problematic. Plus there's the whole coding it thing e.e Personally, I like the 60% filling carcasses. I have two quite large prides, who I feed every third day. Having every member of each pride hit hungy on the same day makes it a lot more manageable, tidy up any 60%+ gals with small carcasses by hand, then use 60% carcasses with the feed-all ^^ Or repetitively clicking through carcasses by hand if I don't have it on, and not have to worry about looking for the hungry ones ^^ Edit: Got my accounts mixed up, thought I was on my other xD Today this one is hungry, then tomorrow the next, then the rest day ^^ 161 lions about to be fed by hand lol O: 0 players like this post! For how many chunks and the % to rip the carcasses into, I was simply thinking of halving it. Then, they would be 'too small to shred' and remain at 30% feed with 10 servings. Yes, the coding might be tricky; however that is why I was limiting it to only the 60% carcasses as it would only be a few that needed changing - like the elephant calf carcass. I know feeding everyone at 60% works for quite a few people, including myself; however I also know that the red bar across my den is troubling. Makes me think I'm neglecting my poor pride! Shred meat would not reduce the time necessary to feed them or change the 'feed all'. It changes one food type to another, allowing for more feedings from less food. Shred Meat is a good option for those who cannot get on line every 25 minutes to start a new hunt. It would give the ability to feed more lions with less food. And yes, feeding that many lions by hand is a lot of work. I have 97 on one account and 154 on the other o.O. I appreciate the input Bilby! 0 players like this post! Like? Haha, that's a great idea too. Though I think the programming would be even worse for that! :) 0 players like this post! Like? |

The item "Shredded Meat" could just not give stats. This option could add only one item, "Shredded Meat", and not have to add as many as there are 60% foods. Here is some coding I thought of that might help. "Shred Meat" (Would only show up on 60% so no need for this part of the code to care about other %'s) Depending on how the code looks for the info of an item, there may need to be something like an IF ELSE loop to get to the right info. But putting that aside for now. Lets take a Buffalo for this code. I learned to code in C++ / C# so none of this is in HTML format. FoodItem.Info = BuffaloCarcess.Info IF( ShredMeat = TRUE) { ShreddedMeat.Info.Percent = 30; ShreddedMeat.Info.Servings = FoodItem.Info.ServingsLeft * 2; } ELSE { This section isn't even needed so there is no coding here.} That should only shred one carcass. So a Buffalo with only 4 servings left would make Shredded Meat with 8 servings. I hope this helps. 0 players like this post! Like? Edited on 26/12/14 by Ni'Vara (#41667) |
