About time I actually suggest this as I have been saying this a lot in the chat. Breeding with old lionesses should increase the chance of getting a mutation. Not sure by how much, but the chances should go up. In the lionesses final breeding at 14 years should have the highest chance, so the timing would have to be right to breed. I know I didn't lay this out very well. It's late here and I'm half asleep but I hope I made enough sense to gather some supports for this idea. Night :) |

This would be realistic. It sounds nice, I just hope they aren't raised by too much as not to make mutations too common. It should be a small, barely noticable percentage. =D ![]() Edited on 23/12/14 by Luther (#50862) |

Maybe a little higher chance, but also a higher chance of said mutations being lethal, so people won't just buy a lot of older lionesses for mutations. Or maybe just general fertility goes down with age :3 Like if a goddess fertility gets old, she goes down to high fertility. So litter sizes will also be effected, because in real life older animals have smaller litters :D ![]() Edited on 24/12/14 by Nomiki the Second (#45671) |

No support. Mutants are common enough now as is especially with GMO cows floating around . @Nikomi Fertility doesn't effect litter sizes here . ![]() |

Oh, I though it might have, I've seen my Goddess Fertlities have 3 cubs in every litter and my VLFs have 1 cub only. Maybe it should :D In real life, an animals first litter and later ones have the most mutations and least amounts of babies in the litter, but the mutations are often lethal :( ![]() Edited on 24/12/14 by Nomiki the Second (#45671) |

No... Because while a lion may have 4 cubs we don't necessarily keep all 4 . I usually keep 1 per litter if any of em . I chase anything that's ugly or has shitty stats .... ![]() |

I'm with Nomiki the Second, the mutations should have a higher chance of being lethal too. ^^ Edit: As for "there is enough mutants floating around", there is enough of every marking and mutation floating around. Nothing really seems particularly rare or hard to get, and this is coming from a new player. This is a nice little, realistic addition. I think if the mutations had a high chance to be lethal, it would be okay. In fact, what doesn't seem okay to me is that a lioness at 14 can have cubs with a ton of special markings, but only a tiny chance of any kind of mutation with lethal effects. I don't care so much for mutes, blindies, and what not. I just want a tad more realism when it comes to the mortality of these lions. If the chance for death was made appropriately high, it could actually lessen the number of (living) mutants people can get on the site. ^^ ![]() Edited on 24/12/14 by Luther (#50862) |

Love the idea, as much as i don't want a lethal mutation it makes sense. Support ![]() |

I was actually just thinking about this the other day. It makes sense, the risk of birth defects (aka mutations) in offspring are usually much higher in older females in pretty much any species, humans included. And yes, lethal mutation should be higher than other mutations in older lionesses. It shouldn't be much higer, just a slight increase like with very low fertility females. ![]() |
