So, I just got a tablet today from my brother's girlfriend who was selling hers.. I've never used one, and other than colouring in lineart, I have never drawn on the computer or anything.. This is my attempt.. Just a 5 minute sketch with no reference.. It's gross, my gosh xD Somebody please help poor Blue over here. She needs some tips and advice >. 1 player likes this post! Like? The computer decided to magically start showing the image. This is good for a first attempt! Don't be too harsh! I remember when I first got my tablet I was drawing the ugliest things ever that were supposed to be cats. Trust me, you'll get much better! 0 players like this post! Like? A tip that I'll give you is to maybe not put the line near the cheek and bottom jaw. It makes the wolf seem a little.... chubby? xD A perhaps you should make the nose a little bigger and have it sticking out from the muzzle, not just following the fur/skin line C: 0 players like this post! keep on trying and you'll get the hang of it! it takes a while to get used to it from paper,or mouse drawing and also do you have pen pressure on? cause from these pics it doesn't look like you do,and its why tablets are so nice if youre using paint theres no pen pressure tho so that may be it i'd show you my first tablet drawing if u wanna see it,compared to what i draw like now, cause its so bad omg 0 players like this post! you can usually google how to use your pen pressure, because it does vary on your tablet and art program ive never used gimp so i dont exactly know how to activate it,but if you have a monoprice or wacom tablet there is pen pressure for sure i dont have my FIRST one, cause i deleted it bc it was legit scribbles cause srs it was hard to use,but this is one of the first things i drew with it! this was i think like 2 days after i got my first tablet, and i spent like an hour on it it was from UMMM 2012? smth like that! http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/ac258/ino1997jean/old%20art/FAAAA3.png and heres one of my most recent things, which took abt 20 minutes http://orig09.deviantart.net/1afc/f/2015/074/c/b/take_ya_by_doe_tails-d8lrnwy.png keep trying & you'll get super good, trust me !! and what takes me the same time as that headshot now is usually stuff like this http://i.imgur.com/9f6esZw.png i also feel like its important to say that i had already been using a mouse/photoshop for like a year :o which i also dont use anymore, because sai is sooo much better 0 players like this post! if your lines are coming out like youre actually using a pencil, and not a big chunky line, then you have :3 wacom tablets are super easy to configure pen pressure thankfully and ty omg,it took a lot of practice and a large visual library like seriously study HARD on what you wanna draw and it'll be so much easier, dont be like young me and just draw what you think something looks like,i drew backwards legs for like 6 months oops 0 players like this post! Then nope I haven't xD gotta go look it up then cause apparently I suck at understand tablets :P Well because I raise my goals too high, I want to learn pretty much everything ^^ canines, felines, birds, humans, horses, dragons Etc.. Yeah, keep dreaming I say xD My problem is learning how to use like to circles and lines and all that to help with shape. Even in traditional I never got into the habit of doing that because i'm terrible xD I just free hand it :P 0 players like this post! Like? |

this is the difference of pen pressure jsyk! http://i.imgur.com/LEQjgh3.png ones with arrows are no pen pressure gimps kinda hard to program pen pressure on ive heard 3: definitely go with that idea, wanting to not just draw dogs or people is great, expand what you can draw as much as possible!! and you dont need to use circles actually, you can use squares, triangles, circles,or anything like that. the most recommended actually is squares bc planes are easy to put in different perspectives freehanding is nice tho once you get the hang of anatomy but a starting circle or square is usually required :o srry im like infodumping on u omggg 0 players like this post! That looks good for a starter! I'm sure you'll improve too. Now, for my advice, references are great. They let you see what your drawing, so it's not all up to your mind, which isn't always the best source. I'm a fellow drawer as well, and references help me a lot. As long as your not completely copying the photo, it should be fine. There are also tutorials to drawing many things as well. Here and here. Those should help. ^^ Everyone has there own style though. Those will help you get the flow though. Good luck! 0 players like this post! Like? Edited on 20/03/15 by Stygian-Zin (#32090) |
