poseable creature. Posting WIP pics here. NEWEST WORK IN PROGRESS. everything done by hand , even the markings on this one. Out of clay so the heads on hold. started out white MY SECOND CREATURE WAS BORN! Made from real fur scraps, including mink, rabbit, and fox, and merino skin ears.(accents, back mane, face fluff) and a regular faux fur main body I wanted to make use of the scraps I have, I dont support raising animals for fur. But I will use scraps that would otherwise be disgarded. edit: I think I want a character drawing of him. I can do good arts, but mines too realistic. I want something different. Anyone wanna thats good? Armature and clay parts, baked already and a coat of black paint added. Padded out. Needs one more leg furred, and finishing add ons, Tail can go and way i want, but i need to fix the fur on it yet. 0 players like this post! Like? Edited on 12/05/15 by aquariummagic 2 (#6859) |

Ahhhh this is amazing! I love these poseable dolls. I've made a horse and griffon one myself, but they're nowhere near as good as yours <3 0 players like this post! Like? |

Yes, I thought it was going to be harder than it was, though sewing the fur onto the frame was a bit daunting. I make plushies a lot but this was a totally different process. and hiding the seams is difficult. But hes so, I dunno, lifelike in person. Almost a bit creepy in his realness, even if he is fantastical. He seems like hes staring at me, more so than a regular plushie would. I can see why people make creatures like this as room guardians, they seems to have a "presence" for lack of a better word. Maybe the REAL fur adds to this presence a bit. 0 players like this post! Oy ;^; I'm so jelly. I have wanted to make one for at least a year.. is it very expensive? Some how-to guides make it sound so complicated :T 0 players like this post! Like? |

I just used stuff I had on hand, i had fabric, fur, batting, clay, and wire already. Where im at super sculpey is about 11 dollars a lb. not sure on fimo, i think fimo is sold in colors in little squares. Though i can say that it took almost a whole roll of steel wire to make his skeleton, but its only around 3-4dollars a roll. Real fur can be bought in random scrap bags from furriers for fairely cheap, maybe 10bucks a bag , but you dont know what youll get. Faux fur is expensive, but for critters this size you can get small amounts. Etsy has a lot of listing for boxes of faux and real fur remnants and scraps. May buy some of these myself lol. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Aqua- Ah, yes, I love the real fur room guardians, they're so beautiful, there was one DA user in particular that I got my inspiration from for the project, and I think they may be the same that inspired you. I definitely agree that real fur adds to the "presence", as it gives just about anything a "presence". I actually almost used yarn fur on mine, since it's a AWD I couldn't quite get the faux fur I'd need to get the colors right, so that's why I dropped the project for a while. But as someone who's made yarn tails before I know yarn fur is very tedious to make, and the knots might mess with the form a bit. Divided- It's actually a very cheap project! I found I didn't have to spend any money on mine, because it only required basic art supplies- Wire, fur, some sort of padding (Stuffing, cotton, pulled yarn, foam, really anything could go here) and a bit of clay- Oh and an oven. 0 players like this post! I have used /made brushed yarn fur/manes and tails before for plushies. Its a pain in the ass, the cat brush always pokes, scratches my hands up, and the texture isnt realistic. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Aqua- Exactly! My hand always looks like it was just put into a bag full of angry cats after making yarn fur. ;_; 0 players like this post! Like? |
