Sollux felt warmth fill his cheeks as Rivers nuzzled close. He chuckled, cuddling against her. "Yes, I think I'd like pups, too." He liked this feeling of closeness, especially with Rivers. It hadn't felt this happiness for months, when, before the quake, he had a mate. But now he had Rivers. Rivers me him, it seemed, even happier then his previous mate.

"I'm glad you think so. I can't wait to get there." He gently rasped his tongue over her snout, and pressed his nose to hers with affection. "I'm glad I'll be going there with you, Rivers."

"And I with you," she answered, giggling a little as their noses touched. Yes, if they had pups, they would be beautiful, with Sollux's eyes and her pelt, perhaps. "I think, if we had pups, they'd have your eyes." The thought slipped out unintentionally, unchecked. She flushed with embarrassment and was grateful, not for the first time, that her thick fur kept the color of the underlying skin hidden.

Well, at least she hadn't said anything worse, or more revealing. With Sollux, she could imagine a life involving future offspring, whereas with Dakota, Rivers couldn't see pups being in the equation. One more reason to go with Sollux.

Dakota glanced over at Rivers and Sollux. He wanted to be happy for them. He wanted to smile for them and congratulate them and ask if they're thinking about pups... but he doesn't want to. Of course he wants Rivers to be happy, he just wants her to be happy with him. Once again, memories of the she-wolf from before the earthquake came flooding his memories. Dakota would have liked for her to become his mate, but instead she went with his brother. Maybe he was simply too young? Maybe he wasn't strong enough? Dakota chuckled at this. Him and his siblings were all very strong. Always hunting, wrestling and training. He was silly for thinking Rivers would ever want him over Sollux. He was stupid.

Dakota away from them. He wouldn't let this get the best of him. He could carry the bloodline. Besides, maybe Rivers wasn't the best mate after all. Dakota needed someone more like him. He needed a mate who could bear him strong, healthy pups. He would raise them like his father raised him and his siblings. Dakota imagined being a father. He imagined many pups, all jumping around with their innocent eyes staring up at him. He would teach them to hunt and fight; they'd do the best to their abilities. He'd teach them all he knew about the plants and animals in their territory.

Thoughts of his mother interrupted his daydreaming. She was beautiful. Her eyes were the color of ice, and her fur was almost only white. The only other color on her coat was her front left foot was grey. She was always so calm and graceful. He, like everyone else in the family, looked up to her. Especially the oldest sister. She looked almost exactly like her; but she died in battle with another pack.

Dakota sighed and stood to his feet. He shouldn't dwell on it. He's lost worse things. Instead he decided to approach Raoula. "Hey," he said, walking up to her. To be a good lead hunter he should get to know the other hunters. "I'm Dakota," he said to her.

Cyber giggled when she heard Remington made him a pup. "I guess so," she said, smiling. "I saw what happened with Velvet earlier. Rough welcome to the wild, huh?" She felt bad for Marcel. It must be difficult going from living with people to living with wolves.

"Just a little bit," he chuckled, ducking his head a little and feigning embarrassment. "Anyway, he told me you would be teaching me how to be wild. Are there any other pup sitters or pups? Or is it just me and you for now?" He asked curiously. It seemed he would probably be spending most of his time with the brown she-wolf until he was given a proper rank. At least she seemed friendly. It was likely he wouldn't have a problem with her.

Sollux chuckled. He, too, felt that warmth on his cheeks, and hoped his fur, though not very thick, hid it. He spoke in a calm, happy tone, as if the comment hadn't invoked anything. "You think so? I've always been made fun of for my eyes, being all weird, but I personally think they look okay. Especially if our pups had your pelt." He smiled, giving slight emphasis on the 'our'.

We are a 'we' then now, aren't we? Everything is 'ours', not 'mine'. A package tied up in a bow, right? he inquired himself, without answering the questions. They were self answered by what lay ahead, in his future. He liked all the little ideas. Honestly, he was excited to be speaking with the new light in his life about their future. A family. Maybe, he thought, we might even start our own pack one day? Sol didn't bother voicing the question aloud, it was to be asked later. He liked the thought, though. He made his heart skip.

He chuckled. "Do you think we'll leave soon? Im getting rather restless, with all these thoughts in mind!" Sollux's smile widened. "Surely there is no reason for us to simply be sitting around?" He looked over to where Velvet and Remington sat, his chin resting upon Rivers' head.

Raoula got up and stretched, feeling a quiver run down her spine. She yawned, revealing ivory teeth, and padded over to the group, though she stayed clear of the new males-she didn't particularly like the look of them. She nodded to Velvet and Remington as she passed, and went to sit beside Sollux and Rivers. "Hello," she greeted them as she arrived. "It's been a boring recently. Anything interesting to talk about?" She thought wistfully of her old pack, all dead ad gone. Or maybe they weren't dead. Maybe they were still somewhere out there, alone and afraid. She whined softly.
She looked up as Dakota approached her. "Hello," she said to him. "My name is Raoula." She got up and left Sollux and Rivers to go and stand beside Dakota. "Anything interesting happen recently?" she let her eyes rove over the scene, wolves milling about and talking. When would they be ready to leave?

Aatu flopped in the shade, tail beating lightly on the hard-packed earth behind him. His paws stretched out in front of him, his mouth half-open, his eyes half-closed. He felt secure in the knowledge that he had a pack, and was no longer alone, no longer needed to be worried. He wondered if any of the wolves would come up to him; they all seemed to be clustered together on the other side of the clearing. That suited him fine-he would stay where he was, gaining energy until they were ready to move off.

Rivers chuckled slightly. "Yes, we'd have the most unique pups," she agreed. "And gods help the first wolf to make them feel like they're any less perfect than anyone else." She couldn't stop her voice from shifting from the slight wistfulness of an idea to the more concrete promise of a future. "I wonder how well Kade will hold up without a mate."

"And yeah. I guess I'm getting a bit restless, just sitting here . . ." she added. "The sooner we get to the Valley, the better. I don't think it would be a good idea to have pups on the way there, because of the possibility of them dying."

Sollux smiled. "Yes, I agree." He chuckled. "And Kade, I'm positive, will find a mate. She is strong and beautiful. Not that I would ever trade her for you." He widened his smile once more, giving her a playful nose-lick. He was finding his time with Rivers more and more enjoyable.

"Yes, that's correct. I don't think I would, personally, be able to handle the loss of pups." He let out a shaky breath, shaking his head slightly. He assumed it would be as hurtful as loosing a mate, if not more. They would be poor and defenseless, the only thought in their little heads of The Valley of Hope.

"Anyway," he said, pushing the thought from his head, "Maybe we should go talk to Velvet and Remington? I haven't chatted with them lately." He regained his smile rather then the semi-depressed look.

"There's one other pup sitter, her name is Scriber though I don't really know her," Cyber told Marcel. "And there's one pup, Luna," she said, guestering to the pup. "If you have any questions about anything you can come to me or Scriber, I'm sure she'd be willing to help you." She smiled. If she was going to be a pup sitter with Scriber, she should probably get to know her. "Are you excited to start heading out?" She asked him, trying to keep up conversation.

"Not really," Dakota answered. "Though, Marcel is quite something!" He said, laughing, remembering the incident with Velvet. "We should be leaving soon, the journey should be interesting," he went on. He hoped that everyone would make it safely, he couldn't bare the thought of more lives lost. Still, he was excited to finally get to the Valley of Hope.

Velvet’s appearance

”It’s alright Kade,” she smiled slightly, looking up at the beta who’d just appeared, ”I just had a few bad memories. Are you okay?” She’d noticed Kade’s disappearance, but hadn’t thought much of it. It wasn’t unusual for wolves of a pack to be a few miles away from each other but all be moving in the same direction. That was why the moon gave them their howls, to keep them together.

Velvet looked up as Dakota approached. ”Yes, I’m excited to go,” she told him, ducking her head as he mentioned pups, ”I’m glad you think we’d be good parents. It’s always better to have the support of the pack for something like that. How about you? Are you looking forward to getting there?” She saw he was gazing over at Rivers and Sollux wistfully and nudged him, ”Did something happen with those two? You look troubled.” She watched him go over to Raoula and turned her gaze to her mate.

She wanted to go over to him, ask if he was ready to leave, but wasn’t sure if he’d finished giving new members their ranks. She stood, shifting on her paws, ready to leave.

Remington's Face Remington's Body(more muscle though)

Remington sighed as Velvet's attention was no longer on him. He knew she could pay attention to him, but he was trying to be sexy and wasn't getting it in return. Remington then squinted his eyes and quenched as if in pain, for some reason he felt ill all of a sudden. He tried and ignored it and nodded as Raven approached him. " Hello Raven, I kind of want to make this quick, not to be rude, but we need to start moving. Marcel is in the pack and so are you, but I want you to keep an eye on him and continue trying to teach him our ways please. I was told your situation you guys were in and get it. Just please keep an eye on him, I am putting you to start in a scout position to see how you do there. If that is alright with you of course." Trying to ignore the odd pain was hard, but he masked and his it quite well. As he finished talking with Raven he gestured for both Maddox and Cypherous to come over to him to speak with him. This two were completely new, just out of the forest pretty much. Remington could tell the two had very different personalities and chuckled a bit. "Hello I am Remington, Alpha male of this pack and I assume you two might like to get ranks and be part of our pack?" Right after his sentence Remington could not hold back a bark that came out in pain. It was not super loud, but whoever heard it could tell. Remington got worried about what was happening and stood ears slightly lower, "My mate, Velvet, alpha female over there with most brown will talk to you both and rank you. My apologies but I must step aside for a bit, it was great meeting you both." Remington then trotted away into a more private area behind several large bushes. His stomach felt ill and he felt super tired all of a sudden and could not help but lay down.

Remington panted laying down behind the bushes hoping Velvet would not see him, and in a minute he could get up and no one would ever know and they could be on there way. Remington felt hot, it must have been something he ate, or something! He lay there still listening to the pack on the other side of the bushes in moment he would get up well or not and lead them on there way.

Kade || Female || 5 years || Beta

Kade's ears perked up as she heard Remington bark in what seemed like pain. Slightly distracted, she nodded to Velvet. "I'm fine . . . I'm going to go check on Remington," she said. Before the alpha female could offer to go with her, or try to go, herself, she whispered, "He seems in pain, and won't want you to see him like that. Males never want their mates to see them with they're in pain; it's an ego blow, no matter how you feel about it." She'd learned that through experience.

Turning on her heel, the beta female trotted over to where Remington lay sort of in a bush. She had no idea why he was in pain, but he looked like he may be sick. "No one will think any less of you," Kade said quietly, then looked around. Marcel was talking with one of the pup sitters, so she went over.

"Hello, Cyber," Kade said, with a small smile at the she-wolf. "Marcel." She added the 'pup' more as an afterthought. "I'll be helping train you, as well . . . If Cyber doesn't mind. It's been a while since I've trained anyone, and from the way Sollux and Rivers, and Velvet and Remington are looking, we'll need everyone available for training pups soon." Her voice indicated that Cyber should not mind.

Rivers watched everyone for a moment. "Neither would I," she murmured. "And I would, but Velvet is talking to Dakota and Remington . . . I don't even see him anywhere. He probably just needed a minute." She was confident in their alphas and would have liked to go speak to Velvet, but the look on Dakota's face when he walked away said maybe she should leave him alone for a little while. Yes, she'd been flirting a bit, but she really liked Sollux, and Rivers hoped he understood that. He would find a mate closer to his own age, maybe someone on their journey.

Sollux nodded. "Ah, yes your right." He looked around. Where was Remmington? Hopefully he did only need a moment to collect himself, not anything worse. He cuddled closer to Rivers with a yawn. He was a bit tired, and rest might be good before they set off. "I'm sort of tired. Do you want to take a little nap with me?" He chuckled. "I know I woke up not to long ago, but I didn't sleep a lot before then. I guess it's still getting to me, aye?" He smiled, resting his head atop Rivers'.

He watched Dakota walk off from Velvet the way he did, disturbed. It made him feel bad. I hope he is alright... he thought, a small frown coming to his face. I really hadn't meant to hurt Dakota, and Sol hopped the gods would guide a beautiful she-wolf closer to his age his way, someone to have strong, intelligent pups with. He let out a small sigh, and then released another yawn.

Nova felt a flash of extreme alarm and surprise when Velvet snapped at Ro. It was obvious that the she-wolf had not meant any harm,at least, not this time. Even though Nova knew her emotions were overreacting, she felt rage build in her heart spreading through her limbs. Nova fought internally, her emotions had always been over the top...anger, sadness, excitement, doubt, fear, love and so many others. It was probably the reason she had such a close relationship with her mentor ,a loner, as well as the magpie she had cared for till he reached adulthood. Nova felt a low growl echo softly in her chest, she struggled to suppress her emotions knowing from past experience how much trouble they could get her into.

Just as Nova was about to run for cover in order to control her emotions, Velvet spoke, sadness echoing in the alpha’s voice as she answered the question she had been asked. Nova felt her anger washed away by the sheer depth of emotion in the other wolfs voice ,empathy replaced Nova’s former emotion, unusually strong, like all of her emotions. She gently nudged Velvet knowing there were no words to fully express loss and feeling overly relieved and guilty for her original reaction.

Ro was unharmed if a little rumpled, he sat on Nova, his back turned on the strange new she-wolf who had ruined the perfection of his feathers and had scared him half to death, he wouldn’t be getting near her ever again if he could help it.

Nova watched as Kade walked up looking tense, the brown wolf was looking at Nova accusingly and Nova couldn’t help a rush of defensiveness mixed with guilt for her question as well as her uncontrollable emotions, grudgingly the onyx she wolf lowered her head. An unfortunate side effect of her emotions was that she was left with imprinted emotions that she felt when she first met with a creature. With Kade she felt slightly offended and angry. These imprints were hardly noticeable but they made a huge impact in Nova’s life and it took quite an effort on her part to replace the feelings with new ones, even though she knew that each wolf had his or her own problems that showed in the way they acted.

Dakota walked up as well, but Nova was distracted by a soft bark filled with pain, looking over she saw Remington walk away into the forest. Nova felt fear as she realized that the alpha was in pain, she knew that some of the more dominant male wolves would not hesitate to challenge the alpha if he showed any sort of weakness. She had to make sure that no one noticed Remington’s pain, that meant distracting the other wolves so they would not bring attention to the alpha when they tried to help him. Nova gave a little hop as if startled, and looked in the opposite direction as the male alpha. Did you hear that? She asked loudly, twirling her ears back and forth as if she had heard something on the other side of the clearing. Looking out of the corner of her eye to see Kade had noticed the alpha male Nova felt comforted even though she hadn’t gotten off well with the Beta, she knew the scarred female was a superb fighter and would back up Remington if he needed. Nova connected eyes with Velvet silently telling her the danger her mate was in. “Please go along with it, Velvet, I can’t explain right now.“ Nova hoped that the beautiful female would understand that the other dominant males would want to challenge her mate now that he was feeling unwell.

"Alright then, duly noted," Marcel replied once Cyber listed off the names of the pack's current pup sitters and pups. He wondered briefly how old Luna must be to still hold such a position. He'd looked around and not spotted any wolf under a year yet. His thoughts were interrupted as Cyber questioned if he was excited to get moving. "Of course," he replied with a wide grin. Truthfully he didn't really care where they were going so long as he had safety and food. Traveling with this pack was sure to offer both.

When Kade interrupted their conversation a moment later his light green eyes narrowed slightly and his lip curled to reveal a tooth. Thus far he wasn't exactly fond of the bossy female. "Are you sure you have time for little old me? You are the Beta after all, aren't you? I'm sure you have loads of more important things to be doing." He turned away from her dismissively as if that was the end of it, his attention returning to Cyber. "How about you?" He asked the brown she-wolf. "Are you excited to reach the Valley of Hope?"

"Thank you so much sir. We'll both do our very best to serve you well," Raven replied with a polite dip of his head. When Remington seemed to yelp in pain a moment later the dark-furred wolf stared at the Alpha in concern. He watched the large male slink away into some bushes. He froze where he stood, amber eyes flashing towards the two new males before following Remington. He waited for Kade to finish speaking with him before peering into the bushes. "I-I'm sorry if this is out of line sir, but are you alright? Is there anything I can do to help?" He asked with a worried tone, noting how sick Remington looked. "I know of a plant that can help with belly ache. Do you want me to find some for you?" Before leaving him to fend for himself Raven's mother had taught him a thing or two about plants. He'd thought it useless information at the time, but it had certainly proven to come in handy during times like this.
