So during main chat today, there was a lot of discussion about art and it got me thinking: SIM sites have a lot of RP involvement, and RP involvement inevitably leads to art. LioDen seems to have a thriving art community, and I think it would be nice to have an art-only chatbox, similar to the RP one? It wouldn't be for advertising, but instead for just chatting or getting advice on art you made, talking about techniques or character designs or whatever as long as it was in some way related to artistic endeavors? I think it would be a good way to develop the art community on here, and to keep the main chat from being clogged up by those of us who'd like to chat about art all day? What do you guys think? Any suggestions, or why you do/do not support? |

@Tony StarK : It would function similar to the main chat, I'd hope? No ads, just for talking about art things? I'm on the fence about it. It would be good for art related stuff to get its own place in the chat, but I believe that if that happens, it means talking about art in the main chat would no longer be allowed, just like Sales and RP belong only to their own areas. Plus, nothing would stop it from becoming "art sales" area instead, where people only post links to threads of their shops and not an actual place to discuss art, art programs, techniques, etc. Much like sales chat isn't that good of a place to discuss pricing and getting sales advice; you're more likely to only encounter people advertising their own stuff. 0 players like this post! @Dam: That is a very, very good point, too. Sales chat can be so frustrating and I wouldn't want art chat to ever become something where people were just advertising and not talking/learning. 0 players like this post! Like? |

Perhaps forbidding advertisement would be one way to deal with that issue, but how is that supposed to work exactly? You aren't allowed to advertise your art shop, but what about discussing art prices? It would be harder to do it if you can't just link to your shop and ask if the pricing is fair. It's a thin line between discussing and advertisement if you think about it :b And as I said before, if art got its own place, I'm afraid it would not be allowed on main chat, and there's usually where the majority of people hang out.. which could also mean the art area being dead more often than not. 0 players like this post! I personally think that an art chat would be very helpful, but it would need to include being able to ask for or sell art. My art ads get swallowed up by sales chat (thats pretty much for studdings and items for sale) and I can't post in main chat. 0 players like this post! Like? |
