PLEASE let me know if this suggestion/idea has already been posted. I tried a variety of different key words when Searching the Boards for anything related/like this

I stumbled upon THIS older thread earlier about a way to keep all of your lionesses so you could keep all of your lineages intact and other reasons. Of course, I realize that the method suggested was never going to happen for obvious reasons, but there was a reply by || S H E N A N I G A N S || (#23653) that I quite liked and could be very useful.

Here's what they said:

Actually, I think it would be cool if Lioden generated a snapshot of a lioness/lion upon death, or perhaps even while they were/are still alive! It could be a link on their page for "Generate Snapshot" that would create an image with the lionesses' current look, with optional removal of decor and age layer, her age, name, stats, exp, cubs sired/bred list, appearance info, fertility, mark opacity and slots and heritage with any lions linked in heritage or bred list available with their lion ID numbers as well. That would encourage users to save less cherished lion snapshots and destroy the records therefore freeing up server space. After all, retired lions just sit there.

I don't know what this would be like for Coders, but it would be cool to have. Could be a PDF-type file, Word, Rich Text File, or a simple jpeg/image like suggested above. I imagine that it would be way too much to ask for a PDF/Record sheet version of the entire pride at that moment with customizable options to include or not include certain information (heritage/offspring would have to be separate). Maybe a simple copy/paste of something like this for a word doc you would make yourself??

I, personally, am a very organized person who loves genealogy and genetics and is pursuing a career centered around those interests. However, it is a lot of work to manually keep track of the studs you've bred with, the lineages, etc. (see random note below)
I realize that you can easily screenshot the information, but that would mean about three screenshots per lioness since the information doesn't fit on one screen (for me, anyway).

Let me know what you think!! Is it stupid, great, too much to ask? Hope to hear from you!!

SUGGESTION/IDEA BLURBS:
"Perhaps, instead, this snapshot feature could be used for better storage for lions... what if, when a lion died, the server created a shot of the lion and then just stored the image? You could put the markings and opacities in the description if you so desired, and the server wouldn't have to process holding all the kinds of markings and decor it had/has when it's in the dynasty." --- Luckyclaw #20118

~~~
Note: I am absolutely grateful for everything the staff does for us on Lioden - this website is my saving grace and ultimate "genetics" outlet (compared to before when I would doodle/design custom genetic codes and phenotype processes during classes).
Random: I currently have two Word documents - one for the basic genetic information of each of my females and the genetic information + studding price for males I've bred with or plan to/would like to breed with in the future; the second is to track the decors I have on both of my accounts and what decors and background(s) I want/have for the lions I "jazz up". I haven't gotten started on a customized family tree and list of the lionesses in each generation(s) as well as any information available about/from their lineages outside of my den.
I love this idea; I think it wouldn't take up too much server space :) I love to work on bloodlines of my girls and would like to keep their history preserved even when they go to the great pride in the sky.
I don't like being a debby downer, but I'm iffy on this one...
I think I mostly dislike where it's coming from. I would prefer a system that stores all my lions here on Lioden, so I can click a link and see all of my lion's ancestors, and then click on ancestors and see them as well. This feels like it's a method of dancing around the storage issue we face. "Take those less loved lions and save this file somewhere in your computer so only you can view it, and anyone else who may be dynasty surfing will neeever see it."
I appreciate your genealogical passion though XD But you, sir or ma'am, have some serious drive. Call me lazy, I don't want to map out my own bloodlines. I tried doing that a while ago, when we thought lineages were going to be entirely wiped, and it ended in disaster. I'm not as organized; whatever Lioden will host, I will appreciate to dust. ANYTHING to help me with my messy personality. Besides, there are lots of screenshot programs. Greenshot serves me well and has lots of features, and I would recommend it to anyone. Takes a few minutes to download, is free, and can be clipped right at the bottom of your screen. On top of it, it's for more than just Lioden. Why invest resources into this, when everyone can just get a good program like Greenshot?
Perhaps, instead, this snapshot feature could be used for better storage for lions... what if, when a lion died, the server created a shot of the lion and then just stored the image? You could put the markings and opacities in the description if you so desired, and the server wouldn't have to process holding all the kinds of markings and decor it had/has when it's in the dynasty.
Hahaha I figured as much, Luckyclaw! Thought I'd voice my thoughts just in case though :P
I will check out Greenshot and see how it flows with my computer's current setup.
I do like that idea of yours :) Can I add it to my post as a note at the bottom (with full credit to you)?
Sorry for the lack of a response, its been a long day x.x And I have two dogs fighting over the rights to sit on me...
No problem! Feel free to post it. I just want a better system for storing lions right here on Lioden; one that takes up less space and allows me to fill my dynasty with all my beautiful girls (and some boys). Any way we can get more discussion or ideas on the topic is good for me.
I've been looking at the aforementioned thread for some time hoping for some activity, so I'm glad to see someone liked the idea and took the time to credit me! I haven't taken the time to give the thread[s] a complete read yet, but I can add in some other ideas if you'd like to take a look! I think they would encourage people to keep and interact with deceased lions while preventing a server overload, and they'd be cool features overall that would likely encourage GB spending/purchase!
